I think we should move away from referringto our hair in this particular style as*locs*.We all know it stems from the term *dreads* or *dreadlocks*. It would be nice to start referring to *locs* with an African term.

I would prefer to use a word in a Sudanic or Nilotic language given earliest records of them are in that valley, but any of the Africanlanguages to describelocs would bebetter than derivation from "dreads".

Here area few terms from the ancient Mtw Ntr of Kemet for locs in case any of these terms interest anyone. One thing of interest to me is that the word hensek-t, denotes the locs that Heru (Horus) had in Kemetic mythos...

I believe the term for locks in Yoruba is 'DADA'

God determines who walks into your life...It's up to you who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go. May God bless all of you and your life be full of Peace, Prosperity, Love and Abundance. Amen

I wonder if this is the reason our fellow BNV member named himself Dada, if it is true he has locs or dadas.
