I have been doing a lil'bit of reeading online...
and i have the disputes of Olaudah Equiano's birthplace...

there those who sat he may have been born in South Carolina.

Why would he lie? In such times -- late 18th century..Africa was by then a dirty word for most on the plantations. If jamaica is a gauge.. then most people had already stopped naming their children according to Ashanti tradition. Cant see what he would gain from it? Unless his whole story is made up?

I hope his story wasn't made up of what happened to him. I enjoyed reading it in my textbook when I was in high school. It said at the end that he married an English woman. There were only a few blacks living in England around his time who escaped from slavery. So we can assume that she was white. I just don't understand how he can marry a white woman after what whites have done to him practically his whole life.

does it really matter hes of African ancestry that would do....and what he went through only people of our descent can relate...thats our common ground
