Located just off the coast of Mozambique. General facts: One of the most biodiverse marine areas in the world, the island is home to grazing dugongs, fish eagles, nesting turtles, and an array of fish and humpback whales, which shelter their young in Quilálea’s deep channel.
Did you know:
European forts dated from the 16th century can be found in Pemba (archilepago where Quilalea and other islands can be found) and is a cultural site of the Indean Ocean slave trade.
