Your experience sounds like a Nightmare.I can imagine how empty and cold your evening was.Even though I know a couple of people who met through personal ads etc, it doesn;t seem to bode well for the majority of romantic seekers.I;ve spoken to lots of people who have had horrendous experiences meeting people via the Internet.Its just too easy sending e mails and pretending to be whoever you want to be in your own fantasy world.A good friend of mine met a couple of guys from Blacknet(no offence meant to Blacknet) but they were So Strange when she actually came face to face with them.Ironically she met someone who lives up my street while we were walking my dog one sunny day.She must have walked my dog with me a million times till the day Cupid shot his arrows. I know a lot of people out there are lonely and looking for something/someone but I really think these things are best left to fate.Some people are looking for someone to make their life complete but that is really our own responsibility.I;ve noticed how often a person who was once Desperate to meet someone Gives Up the search.They decide to concentrate on other things and, in the process they get busy and start fulfilling themselves.Once fulfilled they start to hope they dont meet anyone cos they;re having such a great time.Then BINGO!!! Enter Mr or Miss Right. I;m sure(I know!) there is a Higher Intelligence at work that knows whats right for us and whats not, and when we need the next Big lesson in life...and the timing is exact.I think if we interfere in the process(by actively searching) we mess the process up, and often mess our own heads up in the process.I;ve been happily single for some time now and I do lots of things that make me feel happy and good about myself.I keep fit, power walk along the beach every morning, meditate, write, have great girly evenings and pamper myself often.I treat my friends the way I like to be treated and find romance in the simple things in life.I believe that like attracts like, so by thinking good things and doing good things the love you need will come home to roost!

As a matter of interest why did you include your phone number in your post? I was suprised you did.Its not just good natured Black people who come on this site.I and others have received some Nasty racist messages via e mail.

The articlesounds like a bunch of bitter people, and is rather one sided (I take it the men said nothing negative or shallow, of course!)

I think one would be better off just having a laugh and not set your hopes up for meeting "the one" on speed dating, like one wouldn't necessarily hunt for Mr/Ms Right at a rave.

Delroy, you are like a poet in the age of the prosaic. Black women in general ( and there are few glittering exceptions - thank you Nature) are among the most unromantic,brutish, grasping/materialistic ignorant-opinonatedhumans you could find. Dead on conversation that strays outside the polemical or the common sensical, they live their lives as if the Nail Shop,Bashment,and conspicious material success are the very pillars of civilization. What a horrible experience you must have had, the mere mental image of that meet make me shudder.

It must be the education system i.e the one at home. Peep into many a black home across this country and what you will see is the brutalising and the denigration of feminine grace. Its in the language they learn ,their manners or lack of it passed on down the generations,the general disrect for the fathers and brothers (often well deserved); the veneration of the light skinned cousins, the hatred of weakness and human error;the unspoken but powerful all influencing shadism...ninety percent of black homes are pathological..compounded by racism and low intelligence. Thats the conditions from which our women folk emerge.. and in truth they are limited and mostly unloveable.
