MBD I share your sentiments, but like I said in my post, its not the noise per se that bugs me, its the motive behind the noise

Some kids are loud for the reasons you said, youthful exuberence. But there is a seedier side to some of these peeps loudness. Almost daring peeps to ask them to keep quiet . Imagine girls making noise, been asked nicely to quiet down and thenm thretening to 'bore you up'. Girls, not even boys. GIRLS!!! I heard this with my own two ears on numerous occasions

But good luck to them, them girl talk too much. Them are the reasons I neer tell women nothing. Pure times I be listening, hearing proper stories from these youngers, nuff intricate plots and what not some osacr winning hsit. **** the licence fee, I just hop on a 343 for entertainment straight up

Seriously though, whilst the post is inflammotory i think the point raised is valid

Cash - i hear you. But the position this thread comes from, is the attachment of race to this behaviour. It is a strange association to me, because everyones experiences will be different.

Cash - i don't know how old you are, but when we were young, we acted in a similar way, just loud for no good reason. Shouting up the place, we were trying to be bad, we were i guess daring people to tell us to be quiet. Not so we could fight, but just because (like a lot of teens) we were pushing some invisible boundaries. Understand teens are under manners all day every day (if they are being raised and schooled properly) So shouting on a bus full of strangers, is sometimes the only chance they get to challenge adults. Foolish i know. But this is symptomatic of teenagers full stop - not black or white, just silly teenagers with nothing bettter to do than raise noise.

The originator of the posts attempts to attach race to this behaviour is one which is flawed from the outset. Because you could go to a white area in newcastle and hear the exact same thing. it really depends where you are. And how many times have you heard adults say - BLOODY KIDS! Its just not about race.

It's just the atmosphere, and what escalades it when white or older people seem very annoyed at the them and like children this drives them to be more loud.

Loud, rude females is not the same as Loud, rude males because it's more natural for a man to be loud andthey arejust exercisingtheir natural uncontrolled masculinity. But when girls yell, it's on purpose and with intent to disturb and go against the stat que.

Like many others i agree that this is generally down to age. The only thing thatt differs with colour / culture might be the content of the conversation.

This does boil down to where you live.

I also said that they were cussing. It is the disrespectful language that I had the problem with not the pitch of their voice. If they hadn't been telling each other to **** off in front of small children, airing out their dirty laundry about some, as they said, "dirty whore" who was sleeping with such and such men, I would not have been upset. This isn't about people being loud, it's about what they talk about while yelling on top of their lungs.

Athaba, not once have I said that All black young girls are loud. I'm only talking about these particular girls and other's who I've seen behaving this way. I'm a black younggirl and I don'tactthat way so why would I generalize this behaviour to myself and myblack girlfriends?
Quote:

I never said that white people are not loud. I know plenty who are loud. I just wanted to talk about black girls because this is a black site and we should be discussing black issues not what white people are doing.

I just can't see why you felt you had to raise this negative point about our race. confused3It is NOT a particularly BLACK issue is it?I can praise my race, as I can also criticize my race. Why should I put on rosytinted glasses for black people? What good will it dous if we pretend that there is nothing wrong with this race and that everything is perfect. Howwill we ever improve if we don't look at the negatives and try to correct them?I understandwhere you are comingfrom, I don'talways like to see negative things aboutour people, I can get very sensitive about this sometimes, butthis problem is something that I have noticed for a long time and itdoes not seem to go away. Iknow that other people do it butthat still does not make it okay for black peopleto actthat way.

Aryek:

From where I come from, Ghana, this is not the way women behave so I am shocked when I see Canadian black women acting in such a coarse manner.

Ghana????

I thought you were from Somalia the way you jumped all over me about East Africans and kept posting pictures of Somali models all over the place.

Anyway......

E'rybody:

Aryek has a valid point because those of you in Europe who haven't been here have little idea of what's happeningin North America to most of ourwomen of color be they Black, Latino, or Inuit/Native American.

There morality and sense of femininity is slowly being eroded.

Rather than just saying "black"....perhaps she should make a clearer distiction between continental African women and Diasporan women born and rooted in the West.
Because there is a difference.

Look at women of color like Naomi Campbell and "Scary" Spice who were raised in the U.K. verse those born and spent much of thier lives in traditionally black societies.

Notice the the "bad girl" charater so many women of colorraised there tend to take on?

It's the same here in North America but to the 100th power.

There's also a difference between loud and obnoxious.

Most people will get loud when they feel great, are comfortable and are well into an interesting conversation...it's almost automatic.

But when a person becomes threatening and obnoxious and prone to violent behavior and speech then most people can sense a distrubance in character.

It's not about age in America because you can find women well into their 50s and 60s who will cuss and fight at the drop of a dime over the pettiest of matters.

It's a question of character and upbringing as well as low self-esteem.

Because the steel is black...the attitude is exact. -Public Enemy
