I have heard many a time from big women that it's either

1. Not natural to be a slim black woman

2. Skinny women are bitches (Monique's fat azz made that cliche famous)

3. Men like some meat on their bones.

Okay, I have no problem with big women. And, I don't think them necessarily less attractive. But, don't be mad at slim women if some of the fellas see us as a preference. Personally, as a slim black woman, I think a healthy thick black woman is the epitome of what I think beautiful. But, I think all sizes and all ranges of women got it going on if she carries herself well. But, maybe it is just my experience but, big women ALWAYS have something to say.lol If you are so happy being big, why do you always have to try to prove it? Just lay low and you will shine. It is NOT that serious.

Black women need to stop being so competitive with each other and instead, focus on what's really important.

ofcourse more things are important ,but it won't stopALL women comparing themselves to whomever they consider as competion,big women need to feel good since the media does not love them,but not all hate,some just need a scape goat for society that condemns them,but you#'re right monique does go on about it,and u can never tell if she's serious ,being a comedian she can get away with iut..

And, that's why there is a range of forums one can discuss and people can choose to reply or ignore.lol There are many 'black' issues I would like to discuss. But, we can't be serious all of the time. That's why there is diversity.

Anyway, in regard to your reply, I agree with you. But, why do we depend on the media to shape the images of what is popular and what is not?

Let me answer my own damn question.lol IF we concentrate more on building our families and strenghtening our homes, whether you are big or skinny, you would have the self esteem and self confidence to NOT have to put down others.

Yes, this is quite widespread from my experience. Its why Obesity and fat related diseases are so rampant amongst a certaing section of black wmen, the same peopple who hijacked the term 'Full-figured' and 'voloptous'
