Any thoughts?
I've had so many different types of twists, afros, braids over the last few years just felt like a change for a month before I go back to my twists.
My hair has been natural since I was 16 and im early 30's now,i'm not chemicalizing it or anything,I am just women so therefore fickle.
Anyway it's all washed and ready to go and ive coated it with a protective silicone serum.
I aint asking for nothing, just open the door and i\'ll take it myself-James Brown.

It's also a way for me to better assess the ends of my hair too coz I think it's time to lop about an inch of it off.

I love my natural hair,i'm just a tiny bit bored with it at this point in time,as I will get bored with the press after a fortnight.I feel I can confidently say this without feeling that i'm compromising my Africaness or becoming a sellout.

Ok,to give you an idea of how my hair stays,in it's natural state it is more BIG,very BIG, than long, when I sometimes blow-dry it becomes bigger, when I wear it in twists its just past my shoulders. When I get it pressed I imagine it will be a couple inches longer than that.

When I get it pressed I dont want a style as such because that is too high maintanance,I will just have a centre part with the hair falling at both sides,no Farrah Fawcett,Mary J type flicks, thats not for me.

@Jett
Why not.I press my hair from time to time but i always get bored with it quick time and also really miss my natural hair after a day so the longest i ever kept it was three days.
Actually I was thinking about changing mine for about a week or so when i take my Ghanaian braids out in the next week or so. What would you use to press it? do you intend to go to a saloon or do a DIY? I have the Babyliss GHD straighter which used to do a great job but my hair has grown a lot since the last time I used it (6 months +) so not sure if it’ll do as good of a job anymore.

There is a Jamaican woman who has a small salon not too far away from me,ive been in there before to get my hair steamed, she is nice and ive seen her at work,so it should be a good experience.

It is your hair if you want a change go for it. But bare in mind heat can be damaging...I have read some horror stories about people temporarily straightening their hair with hot tools and some of their natural hair remained straight-after washing it several times.

*Btw you dont have to straighten your hair to trim it, I trim my hair while it's in twists or braids...but I guess it depends if you want an even trim/cut.

Just for a month thats okay, my hairs natural too. Make sure that you go to a desent salon. And believe me as soon as it gets wet it's gone so take a hair band when you go out.
It's also good I don't know if you have any but to have some ceramic hair straightners. If little bits revert you can just use them there fab!

Well I'm always comming up with new styles for my natural hair so pressing my hair is not an issue but every now and then if i really get board and want something different for like 2 or 3 weeks, I get my hair completely braided all around in small cornbraids and get a sewn in weave. That way you don't have to perm or press your hair. I haven't done it in a long time because its harder the longer your hair is but its something a little different for a hot minuite.

my auntie starightens her natural hair alot.
my friend does so aswell. except my friend got carried away and she hasnt got much of a curl pattern left now
i straighten my natural hair sometimes. but my hair reverts after 3 days back to curly even if done by hairdressers
change is always good.....
