And after the intense whitening, nose reshaping process: http://idontlikeyouinthatway.com/image_pages/hbps3.html
confused3I don't see the difference in the 2 pictures -her nose looks the same to me!
Its just a little trick they do on black women where they get a lighter shade of foundation and stripe it down the middle of the nose to make it appear straighter. They can also take away some of the roundness/broadness. A British magazine actually questioned why Beyonce did this and why she wasnt ok with her perfectly fine african nose which surprised me.

Well Halle Berry isn't black in the first place so it's not like it takes makeup to make her features look straighter.

Well I have the exact same nose as her so officially I havent got black features anymore. Its some thing they do to women with black noses shall I say, I forget coz she calls herself a black woman I often take her as she wants me to identify her but I am aware she isnt black. I embrace Halle.

I feel sometimes we get too bogged downwith these 'what ifs'...you only have to look at the MAJORITY of what Black peopleacross the globe have incommon-that doesn't mean to say everyone i.e.majorityof Blackpeople do NOT have naturally straight hair.

...or thin almost non existent lips, orpointed or hooked noses. Those features aretypically European. The majority of Europeans do have almost nolips and pointy, straight or hook noses and straight textured hair, even if the hair itself is curly. Very few Europeans have thick afro-likehair. Very few have thick, luscious lips or noses that are broad at the bridge. There are many variations in all people of all races, but there are some things which are typical of most members and some features which are not typical of most members.

There are many white women who do not have straight hair !'m not talking about the thickest of Afro hair, but they don't have hair which is usually thought of as stright white hair...........they have waves, kinks or even spirals.............is that an indication of race mixing, or is that a variation of a "type" of European hair?

Who knows?.......thats what I'm saying. Black and white are not the only races either, I have seen countless Japanese people with big lips, malaysian people with broad features, look at people from Thailand.............its not always so clear cut, these people belong to the same race as Japanese people who have pointy noses just like a white person................

But are they the exception or are they the rule? confused3Too many people try to use the minority to prove a point or start a debate (in general), which can cause problems (as we see with something as drastic as the ''all black men are criminals'' tag).

With regards to the ''Europeans have waves, kinks, spirals'' and so? I am not too interested in how they differentiate and what not. Their hair is not the same as ours, so it can have as many kinks and waves as it wants to-it will still not be the same. I do understand your point, I'm just not that interested in that line of thinking.

You are right, black and white are not the only two races in the world. But if you check it, white is what we are told to aspire to whereas Black is what we are told to run away from. Which is why they will ALWAYS come up together when discussing this issue.

I'm not trying to say they are the rule.........Neither am I trying to say its the same,I have never said that, you are right white people often try to make us aspire to them, but part of that system is convincing us that certain things are theirs ONLY, its all part of it........I gave the intellience thing as the example, I am not debating whether there is a system perpetuated against non-whites, what I am trying to suggest is that maybeeven our own knowledge of ourselves has been created by someone else and it is purposeful................when white people went to Africa and saw that they were not the only ones with stright noses, they couldn't accept it and rather termed the people as "obviously" less black..............

"Our features" is a very subjective term anyway...........especially when we have been taught largely by someone else.

..................we are a race of millions of people, the fold in a san persons eyes is just as much a black feature as the almond shaped one of a Nigerian........the difference is that one fits into an already existng notion of what black features are (and one is less commonly seen).

My piont was not to suggest that somehow white people look like black people, but that our idea of the whole spectrum of indegenousBLACK features (facial orotherwise) may be a product of that same, whitestereotype in a way which is more than some of us would care to admit, itMAY not truely reflect the truth as much as we think it does.

You used the "all black men are criminals stereotype", if people investigated a bit more, they would be more balanced (not just siting the black men who are imprisoned to make the stereotype more true), even if the conclusion may be that an alarming amount may be......but its taking account of the "exceptions" to that "rule" which will give you not only a more balanced view, but a view which takes more of reality into account. thats What I'm trying to suggest, whether we come to the same conclusion or not is not the piont, we need to question some of the things we have inherited.
|
Quote:
|
Some of us are using it to determine who is black and who is not, what is a black feature and what is not, we are so sure, but there seems to have been more of an inherited idea, ratherthan a self discovery.........................its not a conclusion, but just athought that I'm throwing up in the air.
|
Quote:
Its no use just talking about majorities, not everything is black and whiteI'm really talking about the grey area..........There are features which overlap race.........whether its the majority or not doesn't make it any less true.........thats what I'm suggesting, thats all...nothing more nothing less.

*bump (I think it's a good topic)*
If we were real citizens, then there would be no need for "Civil Rights". There are already enough laws on the law books to protect the rights of real citizens.

I must say, I caught alot of flack for this thread...LOL.
In recent threads, I think it begs the question if people think there is such a thing as a "Universal Beauty" across culture.

The effeminate 'conscious' wannabe is at it again, so what exactly do you consider 'european' beauty standards? straight nose? light skin? Here some information for you, there is nothing European about those features and you will find them in the horn of Africa and other parts of Africa. Stop your obsession with looks, you queer.

What makes you think a bytch-made twit like you should even address me? If you could read you would see I never said any features were exclusively European. Phuck off!

How much of this comes down to letting other people tell you what to think?
White people get bombarded with this Blonde and Blue Eyed shit just as much as we do. How many of them are blonde and blue eyed?
I always thought blonde and blue was BLAND.
Beautiful airheads that think beauty is all that matters are repulsive.
