I am not saying that it is solely the fault of Black women that Black men look towards White women, or other lighter races, but I am arguing that they play a significant role in it. Now, if a Black man wants a White woman, Asian woman, or whoever, then it doesn't matter. He is going to end up with that. However, I think in many cases Black men are implicitly told by Black women that lighter or whiter is better.

Growing up, I would hear often Black women saying how ugly another girl was because she was dark-skinned, when they were not even light-skinned themselves, buthaving amedium-to-dark brown complexion. But at the same time, they would become jealous of lighter-skinned women saying, "she think she cute." When there wasn't a streak of jealousy, it seemed they would only acknowledge the lightest-skinned girls as the prettiest.

Then there was who was actually pretty. Black women seemed to only compliment others as pretty if they had more European features...that being a more slender nose, thin lips, etc. Then it didn't help when they would chastise each other if someone didn't have a perm every 30 days so that their natural hair wouldn't show through. And if it did, Black women seemed the harshest in pointing out a girls "nappy azz wig."

Then there are the cosmetics, from hair styling to make up. Our already beautiful black women spend lots of money on weaves so that their hair appears to be "long and flowing"...blah! Then the make upis oftenstyledto look more like a White girl, rather than accentuate the features of a Black woman. One example is Black women using blush...confused3...I don't get this. Or how about the use of the lipstick colors that White women use?...Black women really look like clowns doing so, but the women who use colors that are more natural to the tone of Black skin, they are the truly beautiful ones.

All the while, Black men often see this behavior from mothers, sisters, and other females in their family or who they interact with. It is only logical that it unconsciously registers in the brain that lighter skin and straight hair is beautiful and desireable...or morefranklyput, white is right. I mean, it often appears most desireable amongst our own women, so what real choice is a man given? Black women trying to be White, or White women who actuallyare White. There are natural Black women, but from my experience, they are spread thin and far in between a plethora of Black women idealizing the White standard of beauty.

I have scanned a picture of Erykah Badu & Tyra Banks. I am sorry, but Tyra just looks like she wants to be White. She is certainly beautiful, but she will never measure up to an actual White women who is what Tyra wants to be.



It is simple. A Black woman can never be more beautiful than a White woman at being White. It is like saying what is the most beautiful flower out of a rose and a lily, but your standard of beauty is the lily. White people look at her as certainly attractive, becauseshe is mimickingWhites very well, but theylook at the majority of Black woman as sub-par.Think about it, once you accept a foreign standard of anything, you have justimplicitly declared your inferiority.

If Black men are constantly toldby other Black women thatwomen like Tyra is the epitome of black beauty, then what is the logical conslusion?

Is it consistent with Black men pursuing White women? What say you?

I actually understand your point.....me and my friends have always talked about how us women having done more than our fair share in the glorification of white beauty. Especially those bleaching mongrels who are blind to deeper issues they are inflicting on their children.

BUT, having said that, i do no necessarily agree with the tittle of your thread about us MAKING black men look towards white women.....for a lack of better word, you could have asked how the glorification of white skin and beauty easthetic AFFECT African children later on in life, both male and female.

I think that would be a better way of wording it without sounding like another lousy excuses seeker who is not willing to take responsibility for their own choices.

Oh and another thing, how come female children don't all grow up to want white men because of the white glorification they see fromtheir mothers??(and FATHERS too may i add......if you could be a fly on the wall of some African fathers, i think u might just give up on life!)

I understand that different sexes of children might respond differently on issues, but the fact that majority of black women do go for any skin tones of black men, then your argumen starts becoming a little too void and losing ground.

Don't get me wrong Thoth, generally women are regarded as the carrier of traditions and cultures, but with us Africans worldwide, our situation is being made worse by both parties having been affected by our predicament for the past 500 years......in light of this, i would be very carefull to slump such a big responsibilty solely on the women's shoulders.

I hope you will rectify the tone of your thread for a meaningfull discussion because you have actually brought up a subject that many of us do not touch on too much.

I don't think its a coincidence that Tyra is considered the the bees-knees by the fashion industry she works in,I think its part and parcle of the man's 'master plan' and a very deliberate and well considered tactic...
