Hello ladies,
I'm 20 years old and my beautician noticed that my hair was thinning on my left side near my forehead and ear. I don't use perms or relaxers. I just get a straight-up press and curl. Do you have any idea why this is happening? My hair on the rest of my scalp is healthy and thick.

How often do you get a press and curl? Using too much heat can also damage your hair. My advice is that you go easy on the press and curl and try hairstyles that don't put too much stress on the hair. You can also see a dermatologist if the problem persists.

I agree with Aryek to lay off the heat for a while, also if you don't already do so, deep condition one a week if possible
I do not surround myself with weak minded people and will continue not to do so, they only serve to bring you down

Another question, what side do you sleep on... or... do you put any pressure on that side (scrunchie, bad habit of playing with that side, etc.)?
I agree with the other ladies. Lay off the heat and sleep with a satin bonnet, scarf orscully on. If you sleep on that side, switch sides.
Watch your stress levels and dietary intake, I find that my hair falls out more when I am ready to beat up someone at work.
If it starts to get really bad, it's worth going to dermatologist...

If you wear your hair in what is affectionately known as the Croydon facelift, that is, in a bun, ponytail or any configuration of scrunchie hairstyle, you may be inadvertently be putting stress on one side of your head.If you braid any part of your hair, dont braid too tight because this can lead to permanent hair-loss.

Rosemary oil stimulates hair-growth,but this must be used with a carrier oil such as Olive or melted Shea butter etc.

I get my hair done every two weeks. I do tie my hair back whenever I'm gonna play sports or go to sleep. I NEVER wear braids. My hair is naturally pass my shoulders.
I've just confirmed it: I do have a greater tendency of sleeping on my left side.
I'm gonna take vitamins and wear a sleeping cap and see how that will improve my left side.

Are you pulling your hair back? Tension on the roots can cause hair to come out from the roots. Also are you under any stress? Stress can be a big culprit in hair loss. Another thing is sleeping on one side with cotton pillows. Cotton not only dries your hair out but it pulls the hair out from rubbing. Get a silk pillow cover or sleep in a silk scarf. I don't see why your hair would fall out naturally if you are not using any harsh chems so I am suspecting something I mentioned above.
