I got the hair cut! But it's not as short as I originally planned. My hair was so healthy and thick after I took it out of the braids that I feel in love with it all over again and couldn't bare to chop so much of it off.
Anyway, the new hairstyle is banging. It's layered, off course. The back just reaches the shoulder and the front is right up to the ear lobe.
Thanks for all your help ladies. I can't wait to the highlights.

For those interested. Apparently Aveda products are supposed to be good because they try to use or only use as many natural ingredients as possible. I was also given a list of London salons that use their hair dye (and other products). The website iswww.aveda.comand the list is below:

@BlackBeauty
Have you gotten your hair coloured yet?
Just cut of my hair a tad shorter than the picture below, my hair texture is about the same as hers and i want to put some highlights and rock same style as hers before it grows again, but not sure about the colour she got thou. What did you get? If not what happened?
Also is there some sort of rule one must follow when highlighting hair? I.e. do you need to find a colour that matches hair texture, skin tone etc?

Got my hair highlighted and styled. Can't describe how WICKED it looks. So good i am skipping with joy and everyone now wants to copy abs style :P. My new style looks very much like the picabove but slightly shorter which fits my face perfectly. I can't describe the colour, it's definitely not blond, probably close to reddish brown, straw set.......... just wicked, so wicked i been asked to have a party for my hair lol.
Seriouslyafter so long of hesitating i have done it and i couldn't be more pleased. I wish you could see my hair... it's justgreatclapwith capital G blkafro.

I tried box braids and I liked the style a lot,but it made me look like a kid. Anyway, I found that pulling the braids back and securing them with pinsgave me a more"grown-up" look. Does anyone have any new hairstyles they'd like to share with the board?

clp)@ Abs. At least you did it.
I didn't go to the salon-after all that chat!:X-because lots of complications (not to do with hair) and then I started having dryness problems with my hair so I thought it best to leave it. Funnily enough I was discussing hair dye with my sis a few weeks ago and I'm jumping back on the bandwagon (thank goodness for Olive Oil). Just have to make the appointment.
I want to cut my hair again too, but I'm not sure :?I wanted to rock the style that I posted (that pic you just showed) but I can't because I havea tyra like forehead (not as bucket-like but still there) so it won't suit me
