Hey Soulstarr, if you haven't been product shopping yet then I recommend anything by Carol's Daughter. I bought my first lot of products recently in America but found out that they've got a store in Notting Hill. So far very impressed and they smell gorgeous. I used to make my own mixture of raw shea butter, almond oil and rosemary essential oiland whip them up until it got fluffy...that helped my hair a lot as well. Happy Shopping!

I got my kinkytwists done! They look really nice.

My friend today was telling me about de-tangling, you uselots and lots of conditioner in your hair, then you get in the shower and wherever the water is hitting your hair is where you comb it through its very easy and quick, and she aslo mentioned washing the hair while its in plaits.

I haven't tried Carol's Daughter products either but you can get them and other natural brandsfrom:

Thanks 1Ebony and Sista Girl. I've heard a little about Carols Daughter products but not a lot so I will do a bit of research.

Last night, I tried 2 recipes from anita grant's blog (http://ingredientjunkie.blogspot.com/) and I'm very impressed with the effects they had on my hair. I Tried the youghurt hair conditioner/mask and clarified with the applecider recipe. I would deffinately recomend.

SoulStarr, I would say wash your hair when you feel it needs it. Some people wash their hair every day or every other day. I wash my hair once a week-that's as long as it can go before my scalp starts to itch.

LOL@ss. I tried a recipe from someone'es website and it was the most annoying thing. I tried some advocado business (in a blender) and it just left bits all over my hair...I may take a peek at the recipe you used, but I'm really wary now. I planned a pamper day for that and just got really annoyed!

Chi, I'm not a fan of parting-gets on my nerves at times. But with practice it gets easier...I actually find it harder to part at the front than the back for the twists to lay how I want them.I think slanted parts work best at the back...and actually the back gets covered by the other twists so they dont really have to be perfect. Right now I have my hair in two french braids-I parted with my fingers so the parting isn't straight but I don't care cause it still looks cute

Curls? If you're talking about curls from twistouts then it all depends on your hair. My hair is quite fine so a good/decent twist out usually lasts me a night or two (I'm talking about leaving it out, not pinning it up or back or anything). But my hair is fine do I don't expect it to last as long as someone with thicker hair. In order for me to keep it though, I retwist at night and I don't mean every individual twist...I just grab big pieces (if I'm really tired or lazyI will just do four).

I say Olive Oil, Olive Oil and Olive Oil (thanks to my sis)! Oh and try the no-poo method asshampoo can bequite harsh and drying depending on yourhair.Areyk, I'm not sure about the products for coloured hair, especially the more commerical ones as they would probably contain other ingredients that could strip the hair (I'm guessing here). But maybe if she tired a more natural based conditioner for coloured hair or something confused3

**Carol's Daughters products were the first natural products I tried and this was a couple of years ago. I didn't like what I tried they dried out my hair...and even now that they are endorsed by celebrities she has put her prices way up there. I'm sure you could make equally good products in your kitchen or buy them from somewhere else for cheaper.

I haven't tried these products on my hair or on my sister's yet so I can't really say if they work better thanproducts for normal hair. Essence didn't go too deeply into howthese products benefitnatural hair. But I figured that since coloured hairneeds more care than normal hair, the manufactures would use lessharmful agents in products that are meantto restore the texture ofcolour treated hair. But a natural based conditioner for coloured hair would probably be best.

That is true.

But to be honest I generally don't trust or listen to what any hair magazine that promotes and endorses relaxed hair, has to say. Especially when it comes to the ingredients being used in our hair. It's nappturality or that natural hair magazine that exists...I need to find out the name again and start buying it online.

@BB Can you use the Aloe Vera Gelfrom Holland and barett's on your hair? http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/index.asp?xs=81F4A73CDECA472B860BD0104B1823D1

I bought two this afternoon but itdoesn't say whether you can use it on your hair or not.

That's the one I use.niceone.gif

I found it a little too drying on the hair when I used it as a hair cream/moisturiser, but I use it to slick my hair back and to gel down my baby hairs. I also found it effective when I used it on my scalp (which is skin too so that make sense).

I haven't made it to the hairsalon yet as I have been working toomuch looking to visit in the next two weeks andfind out some prices at least:?
