I need some ideas for a short hair cut. I'm thinking layered and chin length. It has to be a little edgy but not too out there, managable, and natural.
I can't find any pictures on the net for short natural hair. I'd like to have an image in mind before I go to the salon so ladies please help me out and post some pictures.

Personally I like seeing short styles on women with small features. If you have a full face i would think twice about cutting your hair.

You also need to describe what sort of face you have, is it oval, round, square?

You get my drift. The best persons to ask this question would be a hair dresser or a trusted friend.

I have a few cuts and styles. Kind of difficult to find a pic of a short natural haircut on the net. Have you tried natural hair magazines?
Number 1 (my fave):
Number Two:
Number Three:
Number Four:
Number Five:
I have another fave, but I cannot find that pic at the moment.

I have a heart shaped face with small features. I've had my hair cut short twice when I was in high school. I like long hair but short hair suits my face better because longer hair is a little too over powering for me. I usually tie my hair away from my face but I'm getting tired of the same look all the time so I thought this could be a positive change for me.
Thanks for the advice.

Also like this one below, no colour, no long ting with style and ish just looks like it was braided night before and taken out in the morning. I used to do that when my hair was shorter, very easy to maintain, and will look great on heart shaped face.

@ Black Beauty: i lik those short styles, but i think numbers 2 and 4 depend on the wearer of the style having a nice head shape.
YOU ARE NOT DEFINED BY OTHER PEOPLES\' OPINION OF YOU!! ;0)

Aryek, I'm in the same position as you!
My hair is natural and short and I want a style thats easy to maintain.
My fro is 4-5 inches in length and I can hardly ever find short styles.
Have you tried Braids and beauty magazine? They're not bad and Blackhair is anotherhair magI was flicking through in Smith's today lol itactually had some good ideas and products, but the models' hair was longer.
BlackBeauty that pic you posted of shakara, her hairlooks beautiful.
Abissiniathe pic you posted was also very nice.
Where did you get those images?
I was thinking of getting a straw set/ rod set, twist-out or coils, does anyone know how to maintainthe style/s andlong they last?

@Abs, I like that hairstyle.
@Sistagirl: Braids and beauty mags are a goodidea. I have something against BlackhairMagazine thoughbut I'll try to put the animosity aside and flip through it the next time I go to drugstore.
I'm now thinking of going to the nappturality site so I can go through their gallary and hopefully come up with more ideas. I'm hoping to get this done before the summer. I have a lot of hair to work with so please feel free to post all sorts of short hair styles. The more, the better.

That's true and I don't have the head shape for those hairstyles. The back of my head is flat and not nicely rounded like those two ladies so I need a style that will hide this defect.

I got those pics from nappturality Aryek.
I dont have the headshape either for the really short styles (I have a bit of a buckhead...notquite tyra-esque thoughlol), but I REALLY like them.
The first one and the one that Abs posted are more or less going to my summer style-just waiting to dye my hair next month
***My friend was going to have rod sets as her pemanent style. How long they stay depends on how long your hair can keep the style-it is different for most people. The key is to keep your hair moisturised, otherwise it will look dry and that is not a good look.

I love number one. I'm aiming for something like that once I'm full de-chemicalised.
My friend used to twist her hair with beesway and then undo it the next morning and she got a similar effect to the number one style only shorter. It was gorgeous! But since I got a little too snip happy with the scissors recently... think I'm gonna have a long wait!
