A lecture room in a university people. Can you really bring a crying, gurgling baby into a lecture room in a university?
Am I wrong for being seriously pissed off, given it was a particularly difficult lecture to begin with?
Can you take baby anywhere? If not what are the limits?

First time I ever did see such a thing and lecturer was flummoxed but kept it moving and raised voice when necessary which meant people in front like me were yelled at.

Yeah, having them on long haul flights is out of order as well.
Like flying isnt stressful enough.

LOL but if parents are going long haul then baby is too. Not as if baby is staying behind lol. Though that is annoying there's an obvious necessity. Where is the necessity of bringing a baby into a unilecture for four hours?

Nah dont see why you have to pay your good money to go Uni.. and have a baby in the class disrupting things. I thought that why Uni and them places had creches. Maybe female electricans and office workers should have their baby at work too. In fact every worker should have a screaming baby next to them for 10 hours a week in the name of equality for all. And let teenage mothers bring their baby into class as the other students dont matter.
What ever happened to the termramifications.

No, I dont think you werebeing unreasonable! As you say a lecture hall is no place for children. I can ignore for 1 lesson, but not an ongoing thing.

i have to say, i too would be pissed if someone brought a screaming baby into a lecture theatre. Or any child under the age of seven for that matter. Unless the child is able to sit quietly at an activity for at least an hour they should not be brought into certain situations.
i apprecite that the mother or father in question was probably under alot of pressure to do well on the course while at the same time juggling the resposibility of child care. Maybe their babysitter cancelled at the last minute and i can sympathise with that. But could they not have gotten the notes from a fellow student or from the lecturer?
Lectures are normally only a couple of hours, so bring a baby along for a four hour lecture was ridiculous!
I can't stand anyone under the age of seven or over the age of twelve anyway!!
Heck, even in CHURCH parents are asked to take screaming babies into a seperate room!
YOU ARE NOT DEFINED BY OTHER PEOPLES\' OPINION OF YOU!! ;0)

Nope she shouldn't be allowed. I feel sorry for her if she cant afford child care but to bring a crying baby into a lecture is just redicuous.

Watcher i've got your back, nah sah..that shit would piss me off too...BUT!!! i think i can trump your experience.......a few years back when i was on a post qualifying course..the lecturer, get this turns up late......very late with her raaseclaart dog in tow......
She brings her rahtid dog into the lecture...in a portable dog kennal..then to make matters worse she lets the pussyclaart dog loose, as she gives a lecture... so you can imagine right!!! Trying to split your concentrate on a complex lecture and a blasted dog running around yapping and crawling up your damned leg....
Then this idiot lecturer would break mid sentence virtually every other word, to go and fetch and codjol this rahtid dog...to make matters worse all the bloody bluefoot dem, bethere cooing after this manky dog.....
so you can well imagine that after 20 mins of this, i was well pissed.....I was at the point that i had evil thoughts of me drop kicking the rahtid dog...out of the window and under the first car trust me i was THIS close..this close!!!
Needless to say that I put in a serious word about this lecturer and the complete waste of my time....
African heart, African mind

Damn K that IS worse!!
I don't think that would have flown in my class. It's mostly continental African and Asian lol with a few eastern Europeans. Any dog would have met with anger.
A baby though in a 99% male class... I think we were all annoyed but nobody wanted to tell a woman off. If another female was present she may have felt more comfortable telling this woman to go away. As I say, even lecturer was flummoxed.
