Silly?? If a man doesn't like women he is usually gay. If he doesn't like women or men then he is asexual. None of that is the fault of women, so I don't see why women should be attacked (verbally, on-line or otherwise) by these dysfunctionalpeople.

And why shouldn't british black women widen their scope for a mate, black british men have been doing it for ages. I guess the main reason for it is that most bbw still desire a mate of the same race, so they will farther afield than the M25 and more power to them.

And in response to black power, yes it does relate to me, my friends and family - we gave up on bbm a long time ago. So I wouldn't be so convinced that this is just another form of propaganda.

Definately! I have just come back from Africa and there is a big difference in the way African men born and raised in Africa and the way African menraised in the west treat their women. Im not saying that there are no bad African born men who do not know how to treat their women but there are big differences.

First and foremost they have not been brainwashed into measuring black female beauty against a european benchmark, when they turn on the tv or open the pages of a magazine its only black faces thy see they are not bombarded with sugar coated images of what black women are supposed to look like. People are put on tv because they are good at what they do not because of what they look like. African music videos largely feature average looking african darkskinned women, even if she is overtly pretty she is usually darkskinned. They dont place so much empahasis on having long straight hair because that is not the image they have been fed since the day they were born. African women are placed on a pedal stool not only for how they look but because of what they do, how hard they work and ow they support their families. Because of the heat african women rarely wear make up so their natural beauty is appreciated.

One of my female cousins is so dark almost blue black with the most beautiful face, men adore her in africa they literally worship the ground she walks on but any time she comes to the uk some black fool will always have something negative to say about her dark skin. It doesnt bother her in fact she feels sorry for black women living in the west when she sees how brainwashed black men have become to the extent of not liking the color of their own skin.

Because Africa is governed by black men black men have access to wealth and status they dont have to deal with the racism that black men have to deal with in the west. I met so many extreamly successful black men who own their own companies, own their own houses and when I say own in Africa they dont have mortgages they build their houses from scratch so they actually own them. These men have money so are well travelled they found the black situation in the uk and america so sad. One guy went to university in liverpool he couldnt believe how black men do not like their own women but at the same time he could see what was happening in terms of the brainwashing we have suffered. He said he could never bring his children up in a country where even the black people dont value themseleves. He said spenidng a few years in the uk made him love and appreciate his culture and women even more.

I felt overwhelmed by the treatment I recieved from black men out there and no it wasnt because I was british and could get them a ticket out of africa simply because they have respect for black women and they are proud of us and enjoy treating us like the queens that we are.

I really enjoyed your post Nikita. I think its obvious that COLORISM exist everywhere, even outside of England where Carribean male/white female marriages are so high.Ialso think its ALWAYSbeen there except before (maybe when these men were still on the "islands") they chased afterthe lightest skin Black woman they could find. But because the women were always Black no one felt they could complain because it wouldbe like puttingblack against black.

Normally when people feel this way they just give up altogether in finding an extremely light skinned person in their own culture and just go directly White.

[line]

Nikita in your post you also complimented African men on NOT being like this. While it is true they might not be as colorist as some other Black men(and certainly more family oriented), I'll be damn if they love dark skinned women with natural hairas you put it. If British Black women are beginning to date them for this reason then they are in for another very rude awakening!!!!

Every weekend I try to catch "Soul of Africa" on BETJ, which is basically an hour long program that airs music videos from the ENTIRE African continent. I don't know if you get this channel in England but if you do surely you should be ashamed. Something like 70% of the videos are from the Congo or republic of Congo and their videos sometimes have nothing but mixed raced girls in them. It seemsa lot of artisttake special care to add light skinned dancers or some girl with blond hair. Most of the actresses wearsuperstaight wigs(which look very fake). And in the Sengalese movies I've watched ALL the women had too-light makeup thatwas blantly obvious by the color of their neck and arms.I've watched African movies from South Africa, Nigeria and Senegal. The Nigerian movies of course, were the most blantly colorist......

@girlfromthenc. I watch BETJ every Saturday too. It is notexactlytrue what you said. In most of the Congolese videos the women are not biracial and I can say that 98% are pure black. The problem is that many Congolese Musicians both Men and Women use Bleaching Creams. That is a problem among many Congolese musicians but that is problem that is being rectified by some artistsnow and hopefully in the future it might disappear.

I think you are confusing the biracial people and women on the Video. The host of the show is Maria de Barros and she appears to bemixed race and she is from the Cape Verdes islands. Most people or nearly all Cape Verdeans are mixed race (I have to check the numbers to make sure and I stand to be corrected here)and the host also play alot of Music Videos from her Country. Alot of the Videos that play on "Soul of Africa" have collaborations from Cape Verdean artist, Congolese Artist, Ivorians artists and also Africans residing in France and some of the Africans in France appeared to be mixed race. Some of the videos are also collaborations between artists on the Continent and their counterparts in the Caribbeans nearly 100 % Martinique and Guadeloupe. Therefore in these videos you will see all shades of color from mixed race to the whole nine.

I can tell a difference between the women on the show who look "bleached" (the bleach doesn't change their
African features at all) and clearly mixed raced women. And by the way, I see a lot of BOTH on this show.

Nigerian movies shadist.........Thats the first i've heard of that......I watch them all the time they are NOT shadist...sheesh.

The top most desired actresses in Nollywoodare dark skinned and so are most of the video ladies. :?

Anyhoo....glad Nikita had a good experience, I tell you African men really do appreciate Black women ,not all the time, but its by no means a rarity.

Thats why I love my African brothers to the bone.
