Default women of BNV would you accept a second hand engagement ring? - 13-01-08, 11:56 PM

Women I was just reading this story and i wondered would any of you take a ring that had been given to someone else? I always thought women were fussy about things like that, but apartly not if Sarkosi is anything to go by... Would you accept an egagement/wedding ring that had been worn by the previous partner?

if it was a family heirloom, possibly yes. Otherwise - no.

It seems Sarkosy bought the same ring....not prised the first ring off Mrs No 1's finger, so saying it's secondhand is a misnomer.

Not an ex's ring....and if he offered it to me I'd seriously reconsider the engagement.
However, I'd consider a family heirloom.

The question is why he did it, if it was to get back at his ex I would not play along.

If you're a public figure whose every little detail is big news then you're a bit stupid to do that.

For the non celeb... well if you get it polished up and put in a new box and so on... how would she know?

LOL Doesn't "family heirloom" merely mean that a succesion of men in that family were cheap and clever?

No,! At the back of my mind I would always be thinking that the ring had one previous owner and I was second choice. But if it were an heirloom I would be honoured because it means that you are carrying on a family tradition. But the trouble with heirlooms is that it is not yours andyou can't take it to the pawn shop if the relationships ends.
If my perspective husband gave me the same style ring as his ex., I'd think that he was not bright enough to take into consideration my individual taste or he was trying to find a clone which would lead me to wonder his suitability for marriage.

Njufu if lets say the love of your life wears the same wedding dress she wore when she married her ex husband, it wouldnt be a big deal to you?
