Interesting question which reminds me of a question I've always wanted to ask which I hope is not too off topic:
Ladies, is there such thing as a high maintenance man?

Yes, here are some examples (but not exclusively male)and in no particular order, they are the ones who:
  • Job comes first
are always poking you up the bum every morning for 'da ting',
  • always broke but buy a car they can't maintain
they treat you like you are their mum
  • they are naive about women
they think you fancy all their male friends
  • they don't know how to draw boundaries between them and their female friends
they can't wash, clean or cook

Anyways, i have no idea where Monique got this idea that we are throwing away pontential mates because we want Denzel or nothing. What a load of nonesense!

For the fregin last time, African women don't come from planet pluto, we are human beings with feelings and each with our own idea of what we want and need from a perspective partner. I ain't gone go out with Leroy from down the Pub just because of some imagenery lie about shortage of African men. And i am not gone date any man i have no attraction to because i don't want to appear "too picky"

Hell life is brutal.....i have never been out with a man who simply just gave me a chance and compromised on his dream of a La Beyonce......never. In fact men are very direct and rude....some would go as far as flirting with you so they can get to a friend of yours they fancy, and some will even have the chick to ask you if you could speak to your friend for them. All along KNOWING that you had a thing for them. Hell has no fury like a man in search of his dream shag!...lol

If we want to talk about the Denzel, Tyson, Tyreese etc point, how about this bloody unrealistic and self hating expectations of a LOT of our men have towards their women? Where will i start? Hmmmmm....am sure most of you know the score so i won't even bother.

So please, give us a frigin break! I will date who i want and feels that he fulfills me the best, and if it means that he has to look like the Cameroon Football team, then so be it!

Monique, you might be happy dating a street sweeper, thats your perogative, but it doesn't mean EVERY African women has to be willing to do so, just so she doesn't end up alone! Besides, from what i have seen, it's the men that needs company in their mid-life crisis ridden 40s and 50s. Women seem ok, the only problem i have seen is perhaps fear of poverty. But if a woman feeels that she can take care of herself, then if she is picky, it's her perogative!

I didn't see no fine ass brother giving me a chance when i worked frigin Burger King, or when i was a broke ass youngster, did i take it personal and hate men? Hell noooo...i just assumed they probably wanted someone on their own level....it's not biggie and this tirade of we are picky is getting OLD and tired!
Damn, it's gonna take work to tame you.

Over Xmas i put on a bit of weight and it made me feel like i was letting him down so i sorted it out.

I'll save you the work....i am a WOMAN, not a animal, hence i don't want to be tamed. Perhaps you could waste all that hard work on improvising how to get our motherland working even better.

@ Nsogbu...nice one

C'mon you're an African sister, you should know that in Africa men are responsible for women . I expected better from you. I'm gonna have to have a talk with your male guardians.

I agree with Mesmerized.

If you're not attracted to a man, it ends there. You shouldn't force yourself to be with a less than average man or a street cleaner just because he is such a decent guy...

Besides, we have all worked crappy jobs...ever since I was sixteen till now (twenty) I have worked jobs that dont pay more than six euros an hour...(Macdonalds and the like) as long as you try your hardest to bring in money and are as independent as you can be it's all cool...

I am however big on education. I would like my significant other to have more than just a high school diploma. I also want him to be proud of where comes from.
