Default How Does Your Job Affect You...and Others? - 23-04-08, 03:00 PM

Hey villagers,
i have been away for a while, cleansing and rejuvinating my soul,(far away from the internet!ha!)and one of the first things i did when i came back is check on my village(BN) and it was kind of a letdown to find "someone" was still posting"not very good" remarks on my " this is what i meant thread",my first reaction ofcourse was to follow suit and reply with the same unpleasantness, but i was feeling all new and clean and i dont want to spoil this feeling for anything in the world...
(back to the point) on previewing previous posts i found that some of us have taxing jobs...and because of that we have to put up with their comments.
I respect everyone's job,all job's have their ups and downs and trust me i understand.
my sister,a nurse, works with an organisation which basically deals with AIDS in rural parts of my country and one day i went with her to a remote area,a desolate dry grass hut, where a widow with 3 kids, all under 5 years(they are all living with HIV)lived. The widow was in the full blown phase of AIDS and breathing her last moments.(PICTURE THIS:midday,a stretch of dry grassland, sun burning the ground fiercly,a shatterd hut,a dying mother lying inside, face etched with dehydration and worry, lips cracked with dry spit, body so emasculated the skin is almost trransparent, there's nothing to see just a beating heart, skin and bones..and the small kids?just remembering their appearance torments me,small kids smelling of shit and urine, their eyes so innocent, without a clue of what is going on and so grateful for the milk we brought for them, they drink greedily)

My sisters job was to moniter this patients and administer them with ARV's so that they can live another day...we lost the mother that evening, and the pain and anger i felt cannot be described. Can you imagine her job?she does that everyday, and if she takes out her anger mistakenly on someone, she apologises, she has NEVER uses the"you don know what i had to do,or what i saw today card".
One day we got in a fight with her and i told her there was no need to apologise coz i know her day may have been gut wrenching but she told me,NO!!I CHOSE MY LINE OF WORK,AND AM PROUD OF IT,IT MIGHT STRESS ME OUT BUT AT THE END OF IT,I KNOW I DID SOMETHING TO SHAPE THE WORLD IN MY OWN WAY,AND JUST BECAUSE ITS A PROFFESSION NEEDING A BRAVE HEART,IT DOES NOT MEAN I DESPISE THOSE WHO DO "SAFER" JOBS!!...her words, not mine....

How beautiful. I'm in awe of people like your sister.

What type of cleanse did you do? I'm on some strong medication at the moment and am getting ready to completely cleanse when I come off them.
