I can agree of what you are saying. However, my point wasn't "outlandish" names. My point, I thought, is simple - many people are unfamiliar with names. Just because one might be unfamiliar with a name does not mean it don't have a meaning or origin. I use the Greek name "Enike" as an example since many people don't know how to pronounce it and think it is "made-up". It really isn't. I use another example of showing some variants of the spelling. It is no different with the name "Smith". It has many variants such as Smith, Smyth, Smythe. I thought I made sense the first time. I wasn't trying to argue. No sweat.

Sorry, I did not take it as an arguement at all. You made sense. But a boy named Demarsha?

Here are a couple I pulled from the paper just now: Yugo-Shonda Nei'sha, Altrenet both girls.

I have been in court with young men with these 'strange' names and you should see them when their name is called. i once announced at my highschools football game. I hit the streets and talk to kids who are out there and I can tell you that the most of them use nicknames.

I don't think you would wonder the problem a young man with the name sue would have.

i said in my last post that it is not my business, I am not responsible for what others name their children. what i have said on the matter is just my opinion and not law.

people can name their children what ever they choose.

that name is not that unusual. My grandson's name is pharrellous...i could have screamed. but this was his mothers choice. we have to live with it (Smile).

amoni - ok, I'm clearly dealing with a muppet here so let me put it this way, there is only one thing a name has to mean and that is ""it isn't African!!""

Goodness Gracious! It seems bogus. Shonda is very common but "Yugo"-Shonda is questionable. "Nei'sha" is very common as well. It would normally be pronounced Nee-sha but the apostrophe would change the pronunciation to Nigh-Sha. The last one is just for confusion. A boy name DeMarsha sounds feminine. In the U.S. "Marsha" is a feminine name. Maybe it can pass for masculine in Slavic or Scandinavian countries.
