Black professional, educated, and self-reliant woman - why am I still single?

Won’t Be Denied:[/i] a suspense novel -- a portrait of an obsessed, single African American female.

Atlanta, GA, October 10, 2004: Today there are many single women over the age of thirty. The 2000 Census Bureau recorded that 2,219,489 women between the ages of 30 and 34 have never married.

The vast majority of single black women make up 60 percent of all unmarried women. By the age of 30, a mere 45 percent of black women have married, compared to 80 percent of white women.

Such disproportionate statistics have led to many hypotheses as to why large proportions of the African American female population are single. Social psychologist and author of “Black and Single, Larry Davis explains the “black romantic market in the article, “The State of Our Union: Black Love and Marriage, 2004, on Africana.com. Davis believes that social factors such as black male imprisonment and interracial relationships leave black women outnumbering black men 2 to 1. Within the same article, therapist and radio personality Audrey B. Chapman disputes Mr. Davis’ figures. It is her belief that the proportions are closer to 4 to1 or 6 to 1.

“I figured that as I made more money and got the education that’s required to get a good job, that that would automatically make it easier for me to find someone, said Lana Coleman, a Pasadena Calif., attorney, in the 2003 Newsweek article, “Black Gender Gap. “But it’s really been the opposite. Ms. Coleman’s sentiments are reflective of other self-reliant and professional black women.

The chances of a black woman finding a single, 33 – 39-year-old, heterosexual, college educated, successful African American male in a 1 percent population is about .16 percent. The 1 percent includes those men in cities and their surrounding suburbs with large urban populations, such as Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York, Oakland, and Detroit.

Essence magazine’s advice columnist, Gwen Grant, stated in the Savannah Morning News, 2002, that educated black women should expand their selection to dating outside their race. If not, they will continue to have limited options.

The most extraordinary statistic is that only 22 percent of an African American woman’s life span will be spent in marriage.

Won’t Be Denied, a 227-page novel, shines a light into an obsessed, single African American female. In the well-crafted suspense novel, author C.F. Jackson, graduate from Georgia Southern University with a BS degree in Criminal Justice, lays out the story in two sentences: Love won’t be denied. Maré comes to value it more than life. The story is set in Atlanta, Georgia. It is an easy, suspenseful read. The character-driven plot is a page-turner.

Well

Let's assume that itis all true - ie

"Davis believes that social factors such as black male imprisonment and interracial relationships leave black women outnumbering black men 2 to 1. Within the same article, therapist and radio personality Audrey B. Chapman disputes Mr. Davis’ figures. It is her belief that the proportions are closer to 4 to1 or 6 to 1."

and that:

"The chances of a black woman finding a single, 33 – 39-year-old, heterosexual, college educated, successful African American male in a 1 percent population is about .16 percent."

Interesting insight into the female mind -so unless you fit an exact profile you're a kind of non-man. Even Bros in jail got a mention.

But you - a hard working brother, not a queer and ok you don't have a college ed. But some how you do not make the grade andget no mention at all.

Ok how about trying brothers abroad -perhaps that's not practical. So we get to the only solution to the woes of the lonely carreer women.

The two magic words

Date Interracially.

To be honest - We could get angry about this but let's be more positive for a change.

Truth is - Many Bros have gone white - we have been embarrasingly eager to take up those other "opportunites".It doesn't look good lads.

Whereas there isan ongoing campaign to get Black Women to date IRstyle, which to date they appear to have resisted admirably.

So what can we do?

I could put forwarda number of proposals-

but

they wouldn't hear - im a non-man, I only meet 4 of the 5 criteria.

LOL!

Nah

I've got a better idea for the ordinary dude -

let's start writing our own books and get paid handsomely to attack eveybody else. Our bank balances andconsequently, ourstud rating would go up in a single stroke (heh heh).

[align=left]BOOK SUMMARY
Maré darted into a bookstore to take shelter from a downpour of rain. To pass the time, she searched for a few home improvement books. Not only did her attention gravitate to the books, but also to an attractive man, who blessed her, after she sneezed.

An ordinary day will lead into some unordinary nights. Little did Travis know he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Maré’s heart fell for a kindred spirit; she refused to let go. Love won’t be denied.

Where does her desires take her?

I would like to exercise my human prerogative to disagree with ya that many brothers have gone White. When you claimed that many brothers, you are saying thaton a scale of 1 to 100,you were saying that 51% of black men have gone white which does not reflect reality. Yes, black and white/other race relationship is embarassing and detrimental to the black race as it helps promote the whiteman's crusade of racial superiority over blacks and secondly, our race will continue to diminish ifsome of our people continue to date interraciallyand we will be in the same category as the native americans eventually (god forbid). I totally disagree with your view and those of our grumpy and disgruntled black women that currently 51% of black men are with white men as it is baseless and nonsense.Contrary to your belief, black men in interracial relationship are far in their minority compared to black men in black on black relationship and thats a fact my brother. If those single, educated black females want to continue to be grumpy and disgruntled on the basis of their solitary state, i say let them be and dont jump on the bandwagon with them my brother. Most of theseeducated fools are 2 bitter for my liking anyways.

You are wrong. Some black females date interracially and it should not be justified 2. If they comply with the campaign to date interracially, we have nothing to lose as we are outnumbered by them at the moment. Eventually, we black men will outnumber them and thats good for our race brother. I'm just sick and tired of their whingeing on a daily basis. I suggest they put up with their solitary state they are in or get it sorted out instead of moaning and groaning like a race horse.

Education as they say is the passport of our people to success. Thats just my thought.
