i ENJOYED BOOK.. as I like reading conspiracy type theories etc.. but was very DISAPPOINTED to read that Jesus went to Europe, and had a white chick?!! with red hair? purrrrleeeeezzzeee!!! soon as I saw that. I was like yeah right..'another white mans perception'.... I actually preferred his fist book ..'Angels & Demons'.. found argument btween Science n Religion much more insightful, engaging etc.. to the guy that disagreed.. I hear ya loud n clear.. and to think millions of people read it and think its hot stuff.. pity they just don't know.. :?

When it comes to books or movies that are supposedly based on the Bible, I usually avoid them because they are usually far removed from the truth.
I'm back and ready to attack.

Hi
I read this book its kinda like a famous five book but for adults it has a lot of adventure, it was ok but really a lot of hype not as great as many of my friends thought, I think tom hanks would be great to play robert langdon. nothing amazing about this book....but it certainly shows how religion has created a certain role for women.

All of the3 major religions (Judaism,Christianity,Islam) came from Egypt. The conception and story of Jesus Christ comes from the Egyptian god and goddess Isis and Osiris. That story isvery similar to the Jesus Christs story. Alot of these religions borrowed, plaguarized and stole from Egyptian culture.

Tis a poorly constructed book with quite a few predicatble outcomes, however enjoyed the cryptology aspect of it.
I decided on Monday that I would cram read it as i'm going to see the flick this weekend, just finished it and already it's quite forgettable.
Seeing the flick just so I can see the directors slant.
I've just seen the trailer for the film so i'm guessing Tom Hanks is Langdon,Audrey Tatou is Sophie, and Ian McKellen is Teabing.
I aint asking for nothing, just open the door and i\'ll take it myself-James Brown.

same could be said about those drawings of the muslims prophet, what harm is a drawing a fictional depiction why was there so much hoopla...different means of protest
the controversy is around what it implies...however unlike the paintings historical figures and art critics also shown that they are not in agreement

Finally released today.
The one inspiring message I took from the book was the reuniting of women alongside men. It doesn't matter to me about the facts of the story, it can be completely made up - I don't care. It's the message of uniting the sexes that is important to me. Even if it's fictional, I can relate to a marriage and a loving relationship, that inspires me. The stories of Eve and Mary's immaculate conception have always confused and frustrated me and as a result I've never been close to the Church.
There was unity and equality between men and women before Christianity (think Ancient Egyptians) and I think this story will actually make a positive difference to the modern Church, Catholic or otherwise.

@Ladyday
I really Don't see what the problem is though? If Jesus was married and had children it would not change my perception of him.People at church have said it can damage your faith and make you question, but I read it andstill believe in God confused3.The book presentsan argument that is seriously floored. The realDaVincci Code on 4 the other night illustrated this also. But people should be able to have the option to make up their own minds.

Lol, I hear you both!
But this one I have that old school buzz about, I have to see this one at the cinema.
I'm not a big fiction reader but this is one that had me gripped from page one. I hear a lot of people slating the book and the film but whatever, I know I'm going to love it.

@fizzy b i read the book. it hasnt changed my perception of Jesus
The media have talking about womens role in the church.
The Bible teaches that women are not to be marginalised. many stories tell this.
one thing people forget is its focus is around the Catholic church

Out of interest, do you know any examples of these stories?
I saw the film...completely whitewashed :X Apparently The Priory of Sion doesn't care about black people!
I thought the ending in the film was better than the book's and I liked the historical scenes although I would have liked to have seen a bit more of them. There was a lot of detail to fit in so it was bound to disappoint the book readers.
