I am reading three books at the moment....
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.....oh what a book! I just can't put it down....read it through the night and went to bed at 4AM because the story just grips you....got to work at 9 am and just forgot all my work, ignored my boss and continued reading it......Its a MUST for this summer!
The one thats just cracking me up at the moment is * He's just not that into you* by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccilo.....This book is hillarious and quite thought provocative.....Ladies, if you have ever waited for that date that never turned up, or waited for two days just to get a text from your date....then this book will just be the summer companion you wouldn't want to put down........Read it!
Finally for the second time, Am reading Rich Dad/ Poor Dad by Robert T.Kiyosaki......this book is timeless and invaluable......if you ever wondered what makes one rich without slaving all your energy away at some lifelessoffice 60 hours a week, then read this book.......you might not become a millionaire tommorow, but i guarantee that you will gain at least some basics on how to deal with your finances.......niceone.gif

I have just finished reading a book called "Sins of My MOther" - this book is off the chain! Well written, story about how Generational Curses afflict a family of black women. I got mine from Amazon, it's a must read - although I think it is a little short.
Peace!clp)

I cant remember, is that the prequel or sequel to 'east of Acre lane'?? I liked both books a lot as I recall. The slang of the early 80s was funny as hell!

Brixton Rock is the prequel to East.. I finished Brixton and now i'm reading East of Acre Lane. I enjoy the way Alex Wheatle writes. It's gritty, colourful, very real and even though the slang he writes was from the 80s, so much of it is still relevant now. i hear so much of the slang on the streets still. If you're a londoner and you love black london, read these books! i love all the music detail aswell, he quotes artists and songs of all the reggae beats of that era. loves it!clp)

I have just finished reading 'Assata: An Autobiography', By Assata Shakur.
The Blurb
On May 2, 1973, Black Panther Assata Shakur b(aka JoAnne Chesimard) lay in hospital, close to death, handcuffed to her bed, while local, state , and federal police attemptd to question her about the shootut on the New Jersey Turnpike that had claimed the life of a white state trooper. Long a target of J. Edgar Hoover's ampaign to defame, infilitrate, and criminalize Black nationalist organizations and their leaderrs, Shakur was incarcerated for four years prior to her conviction on flimsy evidence in 1977 as an accomplice to murder.
This intensely personal and political autbiography belies the fearsome image of JoAnne Chesimard long projected by the media and the state. With wit and candor, Assata Shakur recounts the experiences that led her to a life of activism and portrays the strenghts, weaknesses, and eventual demise of Blackand White revolutionary groups at the hands of government officials. The result is a signal contribution to the literature about growing up Black in America that has already taken place alongside the autobiography of Malcolm X and the works of Maya Angelou.
Two years after her conviction, Assata Shakur escaped prison. She was given political asylum by Cuba, where she now resides.
This book is brilliant! This woman is truly strong, and her passion comes through her words, and examples of her poetry which is dotted throughout.
A good read!
Our progression isn\'t hindered by our past- For thats what makes us stronger.
Our future isn\'t hindered by our mistakes- For thats what makes us wiser.
Our love isn\'t hindered by the hate- For thats what makes it deeper.

Loev in the Time of Cholera was truly an amazing book. I am currently reading "Free Prize Inside" by Seth Godin. It is a short read..actually really good. Its a marketing, business, creative, innovation kind of book. In the vien of Tipping Point (which was garbage and I never finished it). The Purple Cow (which I heard was good but I don't know...I haven't read it). I am in P.R., and looking into venturing into busines for myself...and also navigating through the corporate structure, which this book gives alot of good advice on...especially when you want to offer an innovate idea...or general innovations in business. I would recommend this book to anyone who is plannig on starting a business or trying to pitch an idea or innovation in there company and has been shot down numerous times.Of course there is a section which I am going through at the moment which doesn't sound flushed outenough...actually sounds like a load of bunk to me called edgecraft... But we will see. Everything else it spoke on was pretty good and has given me some excellent approaches to offering up ideasfor work or myself.
