Another interesting 'real life experience' type book I've finished recently. An excellent read if a little bit short.

In short guy get's nicked for smuggling Heroin. .... in Bangkok... oh dear.

Now I have little sympathy for smack dealers, but trus me, what happened to this guy insidebeggars belief. Horific, brutal, and fairly sad, but definately worth reading. Very difficult to put down.

If you've ever been having a tough time and thought 'life can't get any worse' read this. Then you'll realise you are probably wrong.

Also if you know anyone that's thinking of or is in this line of work smuggling for themselves or beinga mule (ok... I know that is fairly unlikely...) give them a copy. May make them think twice.

The book is actually called 'The Damage done' (and Warren Fellows is the author).

BTW.. I'd have a look on Amazon or something - bound to be cheaper than the £7.99 I paid in thebookshop (specially if your buying a few things).

hi guys, just finished reading "the damage done" the book deffinetly grips you and doesn't want to let you go.. Ive spent time time Thailand and been to vistit Thai prisons, these days i imagine they are modern than the 70/80's but still are dreadfull places to even visit.

i feel for warren fellows so much even though what he did was wrong and he knows this , the punishment just doesnt fit the crime, no man or women should ever have to endure what he went through..

i would reccomend this book to anyone and everyone and durning the reading sit back and realise just how well off you are..

Mr Fellows states that anyone reading this book and agrees with the way he has been treated is a criminal. Then I am guilty as charged.

This person admits he tried to smuggle heroin in to OZ. If he had managed to do this many would have led a life of misery due to their addiction. Others would have been subject of criminal activities of those trying to support a habit. This man is a menace. He should consider himself lucky that the Thai's let him off the death penalty, a more deseving punishment.

When will people realise that when visiting another country they are subject to the laws of that country. You should respect those laws and customs and if you do not like them do not go.

I am a UK citizen who is living in Saudi Arabia and is married to a Thai. I respect all the three countries that are my home.

The Thai jails are what I expect a jail to be, a deterrent. It is a shame that the west have jails which are more of a holiday camp.

Mr Fellows was let out too early.

I agree you are guilty as charged. The way this man was treated was inhumane. Why can't people understand that addicts have a choice, they are born the same as you and me.

Its just like the bartender who sells whisky to an alcoholic - no difference. Do you wish the death penalty on all bartenders ?

I do agree with you that people should respect the laws of the country they are visiting.

I did enjoy the book even though there are a number errors which makes me wonder how much he exaggerated his experience. This man has issues with the Thai authorities so,I believe, and therefore may not be trustworthy.

I recommend that this book be read by all would be drug pushers and those visiting Asia looking for cheap drugs. Hopefully it will make them think twice. I suspect that many Asian countries have similar establishements for the likes of Mr Fellows.

The Thai authorities are looking into making their prisons more like those in the west. However, they also believe that nicer prisons will result in some trying to get in rather than out. If you have ever visited Thailand you will understand why.

Mr Fellows will have made a tidy sum out of this book so I will not shed any tears.

Drug users are the victims, those who supply are criminals lets not forget that. Just because they do not commit murder directly, they provide the means for a slow death. It amazes me how much sympathy we have for the criminal and so little for the victims these days.

Those who visit this wonderful country are made aware of the penalties for this crime.

As for bartenders supplying acholics. Ask a parent who has lost a child to a drunken driver how they would like the police and courts to handle the case.

Most of us conduct ourselves within the law. Mr Fellows did not nad paid for his crime. Tough.
