I am an avid reader, but this one illudes me on every page.

I got more enjoyment from reading 'Black Labor, White Weath and Powernomics which -- offer solutions....!

But then Dr. Claud Anderson is a scholar Tavis Smiley isn't...

I finished reading it and I really cannot find fault in this text. From my POV I find it a bit too simplistic but it isn't written for me. This book is clearly written for the average everyday nonreader who doesn't have a clue. Think of the Church goer, the single parent, the two parent househod simply living.

For years I've been on top of a lot of issues plaguing Blacks in America North but the Covenants dealing with the Digital Divide and the Environment offered some real GEMS!

I definitely feel it is a worthwhile read, pass it along to one of your not so well read friend

I admit I have not read the book. But Fine1952, I agree w/ you, Claude Anderson books are much more applicable. However, I am a bit bias because I still recommend Blueprint For Black Power by Amos N. Wilson..

The covenant book is selling very well. I have read portions of it, but basically it's stuff that we already know.

We need more organization if these kinds of promises are to be kept.

@ParadigmShift--Amos N. Wilson is on my personal reading list as well, thx!

"When we get into social amnesia - into forgetting our history - we also forget or misinterpret the history and motives of others as well as our motives. The way to learn of our own creation, how we came to be what we are, is getting to know ourselves. It is through getting to know the self intimately that we get to know the forces that shaped us as a self. Therefore knowing the self becomes a knowledge of the world. A deep study of Black History is the most profound way to learn about the psychology of Europeans and to understand the psychology that flows from their history.
If we don’t know ourselves, not only are we a puzzle to ourselves; other people are also a puzzle to us as well. We assume the wrong identity and identify ourselves with our enemies. If we don’t know who we are then we are whomever somebody tells us we are." —the late Dr. Amos N. Wilson, an Afrocentric psychologist (HatHaruhotep--Ditto! Tavis is trying in his own little way to make a difference...!
