Just finished reading this book last month and I must say it was the best book I've read all year! I give it 4 out out of 5 stars. And the only reason it was only 4 stars was because the beginning of the book was soooooooooooooooo good that the ending didn't seem up to pare.
Here's Amazons Book review:
Amazon.com: Cane River: Books: Lalita Tademy
In short, its basically a fictional novel based on non-fictional evidence the author uncovers about her family tree. Its quite fascinating really how she gives the characters (all of whom where born slaves) so much emotion and dept. I normally don't even read 'slave' novels because they make the people seem so ignorant.....
Anyway anyone who has also read this book feel free to comment and add your favorite moments/ thoughts about the book!
