Default The Woman of Colour (1808)--1st Novel by a Person of Colour? - 16-09-07, 06:19 PM

Dear All,

Check out the link below about a new edition of an anonymous novel originally published in 1808. As the title indicates, it's about a 'woman of colour' who is forced, under the terms of her father's will, to travel from Jamaica to England to marry her white first cousin. Could it be the 1st novel published by a person of African descent?

Cheers,

Kubuliman
