Has any seriously thought about their old age….

Or better still whether you can honestly rely upon your children to at the very least have your welfare at heart in your dotage….. I know like death we tend not think about things like this until unfortunately its too late… Bet serious have you given these two question any thought at all…

Why am I asking, well because I have to say things rarely shake me, but today I was rocked to the core at the behaviour of the children of a person, who basically dumped their own mother two days before Christmas on the state… This in truth is NOT usual what got me was the manner in which they did it… Can you actually believe that the son, had the temerity to tell me that his own MOTHER was not his ‘responsibility’ it was the states… I even had to ask him to repeat it because I couldn’t believe my ears and I wondered if he actually realised what he had said…

Now of course these people were WHITE, but we shouldn’t be smug and imagine that our people is likely to be any better. Unfortunately NOT, I personally know of a case of a man who has been virtually dumped in flat with nothing for company but the fours walls, the place dutty so till it can’t dutty no more and the WORSE thing is that the children who have control of his money, barely spend ten pound a week on food to put down in the house for this man… Man Criminals who commit the worse crimes get better food and better living conditions than this man does, and I can compare because I’ve inside Wandsworth and other prisons through work…

I wish I could say these are isolated cases, or cases of bad people getting theirs in later life.. But I’d be lying ….Dumping your parents also appears to be a national sport now its so common… So has anyone thought about whether their children or more likely your grandchildren are likely to p.iss on you in your old age… Remember now the older population is currently 5% of the current population and growing rapidly.. With a shrinking working population to fund our dotage, the days of cheerful granny playing with the grand children aint gonna happen…you’d be lucky not to get some form of dementia, lucky if you can remain fit and able into your 80’s and 90’s..many don’t… But the worse thing is when your at your weakest… The people you hope will look after you and protect you, your children or grand children are the one you often need protecting from. physically, abuse, financial abuse and neglect…

Think about going into a home don’t bother. Most are so dirty, smelly and full of unqualified staffs who honestly don’t give a f…. I personally think Animals get treated better..

People keep talking about Racism, and Europeans but to be honest that your biggest problem and people aren’t careful they might just find that the real enemy is the ones they are currently raising…..

So have you seriously though about what will happen to you in later life, and by that I mean in your 80’s, 90’s and 100’s…well have you?

Sounds weird but I actually think aobut stuff like that, especially after seeing my parents get old after an incident with my younger brother, focused on cutting the crap out of my diet and leading a healthy life. A lot of illnesses in later years have to do with the junk a person eats when they were younger, people aren't supposed to suffer from dementia.

Don't understand how someone could leave their parents... my only gripe with mine is that they're stubborn, especially the old man, dosen't think he needs to look after himself, arrogant,stubborn as a mule like he just wants to slip into old age with a dodgy heart. We don't have much of a working relationship so its even more difficult... mom still out there buying junk food when I've told her not to buy that crap.

They want to retire in england but I want to emigrate. Healthier lifestyle in a foriegn.

No, not in the sense that I dwell on it. It does cross my mind.

I just have faith and control what I can...which is to make sure the kids are raised right, having a will in place with specific instructions, some resources set aside, and having long-term care insurance coverage.

Living longer is a double edged sword in my opinion as there are just as many pros and cons on each side...

Dumping is not new as experts in similar fields see it a lot around the holidays....It crosses all racial, socio-economic lines.

I think it's a sign of the times, really as communities in general are getting away from a seemingly far away time, where elders were honored and taken care of....Grandma and Grandpa (who were affectionately called Muh-Dear and Pops) were a centerpiece of the family unit and were welcomed in homes to help raise the kids especially if it was a situation where both parents had to work or if it was a single parent home...the benefits were enormous to a family as you could save money that would certainly have gone towards child care, not to mention the cultural benefits that are passed down from one generation to another.
I take pride in keeping this tradition alive as I more than welcome the assist of my parents with my children...they are the root, the foundation...they're not in the way or a hindrance to my lifestyle. Why wouldn't I want the people that raised me to be a functioning adult not to put that stamp on my offspring? It's a no-brainer as we say. I do realize that we all don't have good relationships with our parents due to various reasons or another but I'm lucky I guess.

However not to make excuses for all situations but...some people get overwhelmed and don't have the coping skills, training, resources or proper support to be care-givers and resort to dumping...
There is however no excuse, for the extreme cases where fraud, assault, and abuse (verbal/physical) are factors.

You said your core got rocked with that example you gave, you're human but...in order to survive that field, you'ill have to develop a thicker skin bro....I'm sure you already know, it gets worse.
