Battle against child prostitution
A pervasive "culture of tolerance" must be overcome if the global fight against child prostitution is to succeed, a report says.

The US-government funded report by the non-profit group, Shared Hope International, looks in depth at the child-sex industries in four countries, including Jamaica.

On Jamaica, the group says the island's tourist industry, especially its adult-only resorts, encourages tourists to demand any pleasure they wish.

It adds that Jamaica's economic dependence on tourism and extensive poverty creates a culture of "making do" in which prostitution of youth is common.

Japan, the Netherlands and the United States are the other countries on which studies were done.

Sex Tourism

In the United States, the investigations in Atlanta, Las Vegas and Washington found that large numbers of American children are prostituted on the streets, through escort services, and in ****ography and erotic dancing, and large numbers of American men are buying these services.

"Although vastly different culturally, socially, economically, and historically, each country shares a culture of tolerance allowing major markets for local and international sex tourism and trafficking to flourish," the report said.

It also said that in the commercial sex markets, demand exceeds supply.

Shared Hope International's mission is to rescue and restore victims of sex trafficking.

On its website, the organisation says it is joining local organisations in Jamaica to set up a shelter for sexually exploited girls.

You can pass any law you want problem is do we have the mechanisms to enforce it.
The mechanisms are easy enough to develop and getting international cooperation is straightforward enough. But the will to do it is another thing, because too much sex against minors takes place in the region and their is a degree of tolerance in my eyes. In some countries it is more blatant than others but goes on none the less.

I am reminded of the late PM of St Lucia Sir John Compton who was a blatant paedophile and well known for his love of them young Lucian Indian girls they have in a place called Forstye'. So if you have big and powerful men like that in society so brazen what does that tell you. These guys aint like these white men who are getting their arses jailed via police strategies like Operation Ore where these white men are sexing two and three year old children...In the Caribbean them man are chasing big girls who look physically like women but under age same way.

Also in the Caribbean and poor Latin American countries you find a lot of those young girls are over sexed already at young age and force ripe..So they will front big man straight and it has happened to me and they are brazen and they will make moves on you. So if you have such a culture shaped by poverty, sexual oppression and abuse of women that is the dynamic you will create. As you will hear many poor guys say its not young men them girls want it is big man who can mind them.
