The former MOBO winner & ex Boogie Bunch member, DJ Swing has been one of the most popular and humorous and familiar personalities on the UK's black music club and party scene. But now unfortunately Brian Daly aka DJ Swing has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in January 2003. DJ Swing relapsed in April 2004 and so is currently receiving further treatment. He has been told that he now urgently needs a bone marrow transplant.

I wanted to bump this story up for several reasons, one my heart bleeds for this man, his family and their situation.


Imagine for one second, your life hangs in the balance and you are at the mercey of a complete stranger and the stranger has no idea they are a match.

I don't know this guy, in fact have never even heard of him but I'm sure he isprobably more familiar to those of you who live in the UK but I certainly can relate to what he and his family are going through. There are no words to describe when you are in the midst of a life and death situation...having your fate totally out of your hands and not knowing when you're going to get the call that a match has been found and that's if you ever get that call. When my family and I were waiting...there were others who weren't so fortunate, their loves one died without ever finding a donor. Don't let that happen to this guy. You don't have to know this man to help him. Our donor, god rest his/her soul, never knew us but this person gave us new life. So please if you are able to go and get by the event this weekend...by all means please do. In DJ's swing situation no one has to die in order for him to live as it was in our case...so whether you give a blood sample or make a donation...trust me you will be making their journey a lot easier. It is no joke to ride that monster of a roller-coaster, where there are so many emotional highs and lows as well as financial ones.
Okay I'm getting off my soap box for today because I'm getting emotional...but just put yourselves in his shoes...and try to imagine racing against time and knowing that if you run out of time...you die.

I wish him all the best and the prayers have already gone up for him and his family.blkrubhead

My Dad had this particular cancer. It is unusual for such a young man to get it but there seems to be an increase in Myeloma in younger people. People of African descent are more prone to manifesting this cancer.

I pray that Brian Daley is successful in his treatment, putting this cancer in remission. -- Please all, give blood it could extend this Black Man's life.
