Has anyone brought Rokia Traore's last album Bowmboi? I especially love the song "Mariamma." It sends chills through me. I am also Diggin Oumou's double cd album. Yeah I'm def on a Malian trip right now,how about the rest of you?

On a personal level I am now getting into World Music but then again I am hindered by the astronomical price of CD's on that section so in a way its a put off then again I havent given up as yesterday I bought two CD's of african musicians,One is BabaMaal which I am still trying to understand while the other that I bought of and the other one is..Youssour ndour which he delayed to release because of 9/11 the album is called Egypt but has a cover with the word ALLAH in arabic..I i thought here we go again but I understood the connectionsince most senegalese are of Sufi Islam while I remember reading an article on N'Dour which he said he grew up listening to Egyptian styles (his father was a fan of Oum Kalsoum...)(I think Kulthum is one of the greatest artist) and here he mixes Senegalese influences with a full Egyptian orchestra. The aim is to praise Islam, the religion the two countries share, though the emphasis is on Senegal's local Sufi brotherhood its a good album and I would recomend it

Yes I noticed that album, but at the time I was not interested in buying more arabic music as I have enough. But Baaba Maal rocks. I saw in concert at SOB's and I was left entranced to say the least.
