Many in my area would have to agree...Ashanti Douglas cannot sing...and she didn't deserve to get the awards she got over people like Tamia or Beyonce. What are your views? Just to note: Ashanti may be a sista trying to do her thing, but to me personally, the music industry is going down hill. They don't award the best vocalists or the best musician. It seems to be about the package. But why such a weak vocalists? She's just demonstrating the future...that black women are going to start singing in their noses.

I am afraid the future you are describing is already here, but as long as there female artist such as Jill Scott, Angie Stone etc, there will always be artist like them coming up, it just means you have to search a little longer in the record shop.

Really, I would have to agree. I was curious to know what everyone on the outside was actually thinking, and though I didn't want it to be, the future that I feared is hear. But Jill Scott, and some that you mentioned are keeping the industry going I think. "Only U" is a good tune...but when you sit and think, what's so exciting about the vocals, it just shows, that you don't need effort like Mariah Carey, Tamia, or even Michael Jackson, to go anywhere.

I think thats just the music industry nowadays, especially the Hip Hop industry, you get a good beat and a hook and thats it, it aint about what you are rapping about, missy chat the most shit, but her hooks are good so people bubble to it in the club.

Look at the Britney Spears, u will be ashamed to dance to her music as music, but she got neptune on her track, and it was a club banger, everybody was bubbling to it, even me :P, and I aint ashamed to say it.

That's all true too. Missy though, can be credit for writing for herself, Aaliyah and Genuwine, producing her own beats, and writing crazy hooks. I like what you said, bubbling. Do you all say that?

The award"Princess of mtv baseand over exposure" goes deservedly to ASHANTI!

I'm sure Ashanti deserves to be called a lot of things (most not necessairly complimentary, I hasten to add) but "Princess of Hip Hop and RnB" is most certainly NOT one of them. Princess of using the phrase "aww baby" to death is a good start.

@blackthought
I am originally from Brooklyn, NY, but now I reside in the Southeastern part of the United States...North Carolina. I can't stand North Carolina. Too country, ignorant, backward stupid people.
