I'm missing black comedy on tv. In fact I can't remember what the last black comedy shown on tv was, probably Lenny Henry.
Does anyone know who's coming up in the UK and who is likely to be the next star?

It's never going to happen unless we as a people come together and voice our disgust at the lack of representation on TV. I can't see that happening for the simple fact we live in our own comfort zones, Black people (especially nowadays) don't believe in demonstration or standing up for their rights for anything. It's OK when 'other people' speak on our behalf and that is the reason why everybody takes liberty with Black people!

Hey BP
Did you see the 3 non blond sketch where they speak psuedo street slang to people on road and leave them baffled? The gal is deliberately not saying ANYTHING. She just talking gibberish and you see people desperate to appear down, pretend to understand her. When she does it to suburban youngsters (white or black) whose whole life is an act, I find it hilarious.

i remember watching a sketch where they were having a breakdance battle on the street near bank station at rush hour.
It was soooooo funny.

I saw some of 3 non blonds, it was funny.
I loved the show with Robbie Gee and others that was on years ago, I can't remember the name of it. I saw one of the guys from that show in the black musical "The Big Life". It would be nice to see them back on tv.

For me, 'black' comedy has always worked better live on stage than on TV. Agree with opinions here about 3 Non-Blondes; thought Lenny Henry's last series was dire. Would be interesting to know who else is coming through from an African British perspective, though there's plenty of choice across the diaspora...

As a matter of interest have YOU ever voiced your concerns to any of the broadcasting companies, or anyfeedback arena which deals with viewer comments?

In fact doyou know anything about the work of 'Black People' organisations and groups who work tireless in lobbying to get something done about 'black (mis)representation on TV not to mention a range of other issues relevant to the black community?

It's ok to get on your soap box and pontificate about what it is 'Black People are doing or not doing'. But if as a black person yourself do you ever ask "What am I doing?" or "What can I do?"

Lamenting the woeful state of 'Black people's inaction' may make it seem one has really got their finger on the pulse as to what is wrong with the community, it may even give one a sense of 'being proactive', but it all goes a bit flat when it is no more than rhetoric sprouted from the safety of one's own 'comfort zone'.

There are those who feel that the only way to ‘prove their own worth’ is by ‘devaluing the worth of others’. You will often find that a man who is compelled to measure his substance against the substance of another, has little of substance in the first place!

I enjoyed 3 Non Blondes. It somewhat filled the void of Trigger Happy TV
I loved it whenone of the womanwould pretnd that they had a date with a total stranger, always in fancy dress. Cracked me up
As for UK comedy, I dont wanna see any on TV before dramas are commisioned. After that, then I would love to seee some

It's really good! I recommend seeing it while it's at Stratford.
