Kunjufu: I never questioned the existence of BLACK people in the UK, i questioned whether it was right to make oliver twist plitically correct by replacing White characters with Black ones...my further question is if its ok for oliver twist is it then ok for black plays to be whitewashed in the same way?

Being polictically correct falls short of the reality. The alternative would be a declaration that Nancy must be white therefore black actors need not apply. Would you honestly be comfortable with such a declaration?

Obviously you do have a point, but cant agree this is the right example. Each case needs to be judged on its own individual merits. Im quite liberal with these issues, i wouldnt mind a black James Bond, or Nancy, could even get my head around a black milky bar kid....lol

I agree with Kunjufu to some extent. However

There are so few roles for black people for them to now self-edit and say, nah this chick/dude should be white, I'm not going to go for it

In saying that, I would not take kindly to a black bond at all( then again if Casino Royale is the new benchamrk I might be done with the franchise) and I was not amused by Kingpin being black

You ever heard of the Golden Rule. He who has the gold makes the rules!

He who asks is a fool for five minutes. He who never asks remains a fool for ever.
