The Great Debaters

Marshall, Texas, described by James Farmer, Jr. as "the last city to surrender after the Civil War," is home to Wiley College, where, in 1935-36, inspired by the Harlem Renaissance and his clandestine work as a union organizer, Professor Melvin Tolson coaches the debate team to a nearly-undefeated season that sees the first debate between U.S. students from white and Negro colleges and ends with an invitation to face Harvard University's national champions. The team of four, which includes a female student and a very young James Farmer, is tested in a crucible heated by Jim Crow, sexism, a lynch mob, an arrest and near riot, a love affair, jealousy, and a national radio audience.

They take refuge in a small Italian village that has been temporarily vacated by the Germans. In their company in a small boy, obviously shell-shocked and feverish, who seems only to speak to his invisible friend Arturo. Tensions rise among the four men not only because of their life-threatening situation but also because two of them become rivals for the attention of an attractive young woman. When they manage to make contact with their unit, they are told to capture a German soldier for questioning and with the aid of the Italian partisans, have a candidate. City of God is based on a true story that takes place in the 60's where in the slums of Rio De Janeiro two boys growing up in the neighborhood take on different paths in life. The story is told through eyes of Buscape, a poor young fisherman's son who dreams of becoming a photographer one day. His story narrates the violence and corruption surrounding the city and the rise and fall of one of the city's most notorious boss'. Li'l Ze. As war wages on the streets Buscape's only way out of this violent life is to expose its brutality the world through his pictures. Along the way the lives of other are put into perspective as their stories intersect with the events that take place.

Sarafina

The plot centers on students involved in the Soweto Riots, in opposition to the implementation of Afrikaans as the language of instruction in schools. The stage version presents a school uprising similar to the Soweto uprising on June 16, 1976. A narrator introduces several characters among them the school girl activist Sarafina. Things get out of control when a policeman shoots several pupils in a classroom. Nevertheless, the musical ends with a cheerful farewell show of pupils leaving school, which takes most of act two.

In the movie version Sarafina feels shame at her mother's (played by Miriam Makeba in the film) acceptance of her role as domestic servant in a white household in apartheid South Africa, and inspires her peers to rise up in protest, especially after her inspirational teacher, Mary Masombuka (played by Whoopi Goldberg in the film version) is imprisoned.

Eventually, Andrew achieves his ends on his own terms.

However, they do not sell as they are marginally better than the current technology at a much higher price. On top of that, one of these does not work. As Gardner tries to figure out on how to fix the faulty one and sell the others, his wife leaves him, he loses his house, his bank account, and credit cards. Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job; he takes on a job as a stockbroker, but before he can receive pay, he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices.

Scrubs
This scrubs season 1-8 dvd boxset is probably one of the most original shows on television. I was immediately hooked on this scrubs season 1-8 dvd boxset ! scrubs season 1-8 dvd is such a GREAT show that even with a few lackluster seasons, scrubs season 1-8 dvd is still one of the best shows on television.

House Md
Hugh Laurie as Dr. House(House md seasons 1-5 dvd boxset) is my new hero. House md seasons
is a terrific show with some absolutely great writing. A little over the layman's head as far as medical jargon, but the characters, plot and script more than make up for any questions about a diagnosis.
House md seasons 1-5 is really carried by House md dvd boxset
, but the team of Doctor who seasons 1-4 dvd boxset who work with him add dimension and depth to his character. Any
negative comments I've read aboutHouse md seasons 1-5 dvd boxset dealt with complaints about how the television
Doctor who seasons 1-4 dvd boxset don't diagnose the way the viewing medical professionals do. May I point out to these
people, House md seasons dvd is a television show. Please get a grip on reality and watch
House md seasons 1-5 dvd boxset for it's pure entertainment value. I hope buy House md seasons has a good following and I'm already hoping for, and looking forward to, more seasons

My favourite kinds of movies are what I describe as 'transformational' movies. In these the main protagonist goes on some kind of journey, e.g. spiritual, mental, physical or geographical, and endures a series of trails. The sweet part of these movis is at the end they 'get it' and emerge a step, or several steps closer to becoming a human being. I.e. enlightened.

I’ll tactfully sidestep 'Lord of the Rings' and nominate these seven:

Malcolm X
The Hurricane
The Shawshank Redemption (2nd vote)
Fight Club
Planes, Trains and Automobiles (strange choice!)
Blade Runner
Jet Li’s Fearless

Hotep.
