In post-apocalyptic 2043, a lone hero, Eli (Denzel Washington), guards the Book of Eli, which provides knowledge that could redeem society, and the source of all their pain. The despot of a small makeshift town (Gary Oldman) plans to take possession of the book.

The Book of Eli - 17-01-10, 07:41 AM

Saw this last night.I would say it's quite good, definitely worth a look. Not sure if we're meant to be bludgeoned to death with the religious over and undertones, however,it's a decent piece of work by The Hughes Brothers'.
And Denzel is on point.

There is one major plot twist to look out for, which will make you re-think every scene you saw previously,I obviously won't give it away here.

Looks like it might,I say might have beaten Avatar in the box office takings this Friday also.

I saw this over the weekend and I liked it. There was quite a bit of blood and violence in places. After the ending I will definitely have to watch it again to see if the 'twist' was obvious from the beginning. Did anyone manage to figure this out before the end. One thing I would have liked to have seen was more of an explanation as to how the world/US ended up in a 'post-apocalyptic' state.

The twist isn't obvious from the start coz what they very cleverly did is establish another character's 'thing',which leads your brain far away from the thought that this "thing' is also possible in another person.

Sorry to be so cryptic but obviously I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't checked this movie out yet.

You're right, it is quite difficult to talk about this movie without talking about possible spoilers. One other thought I had was about if any other characters in the film had figured out this 'thing/twist' as well.

Sorry Guys but I didn't think this film lived up to the hype!! The so called twist wasn't what I would describe as a twist my girlfriend and I left the cinema wondering whether we had missed something before concluding that it obviously ... !

In my mind I would say not nothing special but definitely watchable.

It couldn't have been a possible twist I mean everyone keeps forgetting one thing....

Remember the first scene of the movie in the forest? How can you relate that to the plot twist? Seriously that threw a monkey wrench in it for me, but all in all it was kinda predictable as I am noticing an on going occurrence in all Denzel movies.

Yep,I remember the first scene in the forest, but it no way blows a hole in the twist later to come, coz he employs that same technique in the forest later in the film before twist is revealed.
