As for a black James Bond - I can't see that happening! Remember the Milky Bar Kid advert fiasco? I can't say I care either however.

It like saying there should be a white shaft leave them to their business.
If you dont know yourself expect to be a victim of what they tell you about yourself

The issue of having a blackbond is not one of acceptance but more that of Zero Tolerance.
Its an acting role and one i can see no reason why a blackman couldnt successfully play.
Simpletons must open their minds.
Imagine if the progressive amonst us had said at every obstruction, "its a white ting"or "leave it to them" or "its too Beggy Beggy".
Exactly where would be now since leaving the bannana boat for the first time.
I want to see Black Police Comissioners, Black magistrates, Black Jugdes, and Black actors successfully excuting roles percieved as white-only roles for whatever reason.
Theres a much bigger picture ahead when this happens, but of course you would need vision to be able to see it.

Maybe it's time to create something new......not just a Black James bond, but a totally new character alltogether......the whole James Bond spy thing is really boring and outdated.......lets do something else..........

Le Moor
Bond is a symbol. A symbol of imperial Britain as he goes around the world blowing stuff up for QUEEN and country. You sure you want to see a black man in that role?

Nothing wrong with wanting to see those things. However, if you had suggested that there be a black top secret agent that is one thing. But to want that James Bond be played by a black man, is entirely another.

Would you suggest the same for Poirot or Miss Marple (two well known Agatha Christie characters)? At the end of the day that is what James Bond is (a character)justlike Shaft, say. It just so happens that the colour of those characters are a fundamental element of their makeup. James Bond has to be white in as much as Shaft has to be black. That's how the characters were created.

If we are going to claim that the colour of fictional creations is totally irrelevant then where do we stop? because the same would have to apply to fictional black characters....why can't Shaft be Chinese?

Does that mean that if I create this great character in my image (not too difficult to do) for a series of books I am writing, that when the books areturned into a film, I should not be bothered that the character in the film is white? Ridiculous! Thepersona of the character is enshrined in his 'colour' so to make him white just wouldn't work. I would suggest that the same applies to the character known as James Bond.

There are those who feel that the only way to ‘prove their own worth’ is by ‘devaluing the worth of others’. You will often find that a man who is compelled to measure his substance against the substance of another, has little of substance in the first place!

it would be too funny, though...Mr Bond on a new mission, trying to kill the evil president of the Estonian Republic. As usual, Mr Bond attends a party in the beginning where he sneaks in, finds himself a girl and kills a couple of guys on his way back to the hotel....
|
Quote:

hmmm...the black version, Mr Black Bond jumps out of his Jaguar, gets in the line and the bouncer asks for an invitation or at least a membership card...so Mr Black Bond has to crush the party and sneaks into the mansion through a window.Mr Black Bond find himself a nice girl at the bar (of course black), orders his ginger beer and aks the girl for her name. "Nigga,please..do i look like a ghetto bitch, straight out the jungle, if i wanted to date a broke ass brother, i could have stayed in the projects.nah,nah...i 'm gonna get me a good white man".
|
Quote:

He walks around and suddenly the bouncer(the same oneform the entrance)is tipping on his shoulder. "Sorry, Mr Annan. The President wants to talk to you!Now!"...
|
"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I\'m very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

The roleis much sought over and a pinnicle to any actors career. One which few would deny if given the chance to play. So as a black actor you would be crazy to not want the part if given the chance.
