Just came back from see thisfilm with my boys. All I can say is: WOW!!! Everyone in the cinema was going crazy.

Talk about GRATITIOUSGRAPHICVIOLENCE!!! And people wanna say A History of Violence was excessive...please...this film makes that andScarface look like the smurfs!!! Believe me I am NOT exaggerating by a long shot!!! More blood than Shogun Assassin with people getting shot in some of the most brutal and gory ways. Mans dem (and even some women) get literallyblown away!! And it's got two of the best shoot out scenes I've ever seen. Kids in very dangerous situations, racial epithets, corrupt cops, tons of f-words, etc it's all here bruv!!!

Trust me....some of the most repulsive, nastiest, sleaziest, dangerous, evil, disgusting, psychotic characters you will ever seeon film are in this!!!! It's as if Wayne Kramer thought of every single messed element he could dream up and put it in a film. He wasn't ramping!

There is oneparticularly evil, disturbing andf**cked up scene (and there are MANY....) that will have you like !!! It was like a small sub plot....when you see this you'll know what I'm talking about....it made me shudder!!

This is a guy's flick by far...your woman will NOT like this!!!!!!!!

Prince...i saw it this weekend too!

boy i was speechless! racists, hookers, paedophiles, etc. i loved it! the first shoot out scene took the biscuit! had every man in the cinema including mine wincing and crossing their legs.

kids swearing like sailors. and the russian guy was amazing! LOL! the Duke!

i know what scene u r talking about, that had me cussing so bad, even worse than the actors.

the young actor who plays Paul Walker's Boss is wicked, he is currently in a channel 5 series "Killer Instinct". 10pm on Thurs. u should check it out, excellent show.

i loved everything about that film, except for the ending..too corny for my tastes.

LOL the first shoot out scene was off da chain....it was enough to make any man wince trust me blkhide! But the way the yardie took the full impact of the shotgun blast that he flew right into the wall was just dark!! The shoot out scene in the ice hockey rink has to be among the most intense shoot out scenes in American movie history.....What about the guy that got half his face blown off.......DAMN!!!!! At least the kid's Russian stepdad showed a bit of heart by not killing him....which is why he got killed by his boss....but LMAO at how he got shot in the back through the eyes of his tatoo ha ha ha!! So OTT that was!
Quote:
And as for THAT most disturbing scene.....what's funny is that it had almost nothing to do with the movie so it was soooo unexpected. It's as if the director was like "Yeah, I know you lot are just repulsed by what's going on so far so I'm going to up the anteand take it to a whole new level and really f**k with your heads...."!! And what was up with that crazy monster figure lurking in the shadows when the boy was in the bathroom?! What's funny is that even though that particular scene was all colourful you just KNEW something seriously f**ked up was gonna happen because of what was taking place in the film so far.....
Quote:
I'm surprised certain scenes in the film weren't cut considering the MPAA board is notoriously fussy at to what should and shouldn't be shown....only foreign movies tend to be this bad.
Quote:
I've never been so excited at the cinema over a film since City of God....cos the last couple of years have been a bit dry...but if this film is anything to go by 2006 should be a good year for movies.
Quote:
Guess what....the film doesn't even get released in the states until sometime in Feb....so we're among the first few people to see it lol!

Prince..the scary monster thing in the bathroom really freaked me out..WTF was that? that whole scene was so irrelevant beyond belief. i sat there thinkin..."WHY?" LOL!

u dont wanna ruin the film for ppl so i'll remain vague, the scene in the laundry room with Walker and his wife, a lady sitting with her man next to us punched his arm and told him to watch and see how its done..now that was cold!

somehow i dont see it being released stateside..they r too uppity.

but the ending was still too sugary for me.

Just got back from watching this filmclp) loved it, the ice rink scean has to be on par with the scene in sin city when Marv hacked off the guy’s arms and legs and let the dogs eat him a live... well not quite as good but enjoyed it all the same. This film was not much for story line or acting skills but i'll give it thumbs up for close up shots and new ways to kill and make you squirm.

Definitely enjoyable, it had some good scenes like the beginning shoot out, the little boys step dad and his John Wayne tattoo had me in stitches lol and one of my favorite scean was when the wife called the police to report a shooting at those disgusting couples house and then pow pow pow... the whole cinema started clapping.

Thing is... may be i need to lay off watching too many violent films confused3but i was expecting much much worse violence… That's the only slight disappointing bitabout the film .

hmmmm.

@Mspnutt

I was reading the imdb message boards and apparently the monster figure lurking in the background was supposed to be from the boy's perspective in how he viewed the freaky couple, which is what they turned out to be. Hmmmm....

@Abi

LMAO that's dread you didn't find it that violent! If man dem getting literally half their face blown off and shot up so badly you can see their insides isn't intense enough for you then bwooooyyy....me nuh know wah fi seh! confused3And this film is better than the overrated Sin City by FAR. Sin City was deliberately cartoonish so no matter how gory it was you couldn't take it seriously. RS just took American cinematic violence to a whole newlevel. It made a lot of these other mob flicks look like Sesame Street. I thought this was WAYYY too violent for American standards.It was on a par with Takaashi Mike's movies and that's saying something!

Hmmmmm....the only responses have been from women....interesting. blktype

Nah don't touch sin city... Sin City was way more disturbing than RS but the fact that it had the comic book effect is what made it less disturbing. When i think about some of the scenes on sin city like the scene with the dogs eating the guy alive what i wonder about is the sanity of the writers. I mean you have to be pretty messed up there to think up such horrors and turn it into entertainment and what a genius he is to make it look cartoonish as well.
Quote:
Anyway, RS was a good enough film and had some real close up shots but i am not squeamish and i enjoy details like that confused3. And I think my expectation was set high having read yours and Mspnutt's reply, so i was kinda prepared to watch some grotesque stuff.

@Abi

Then I'll suggest maybe Cannibal Holocaust. If that doesn't work then one can only conclude you have a belly made of iron....
