Anybody seen this movie?

I thought it was very good and criminally underrated. Nicolas Cage as an international arms dealer.

From the openning sequence following the path of a single bullet from factory to the shot into a child soldier's head I knew movie would be something above the general trash.

I almost bought the DVD a few months ago.

But when I checked the reviews I figured I shouldn't buy it. I just watched a bunch of clips about it on VEOH and it looks like it could be pretty good. Anybody know how realistic the portrayal of Africa is. I confess I am always suspicious of that.

I saw the clip where the took the 40 ton plane apart. That was funny and sad but wouldnt they need plenty of tools?

Portrayal of Africa is relative. Given the location and period the movie was set in (an arms dealer selling guns illegally in various war zones) it's not going to be pretty. Especially since he went to Sierra Leone and Liberia in the 90s... Child soldiers, diamonds, amputees etc etc. They showed similar scenes when he went to the Balkans earlier in the movie though.

If you did a general movie (say a rom-com or drama) set in Africa and featured such scenes you might have a case for being annoyed. But if the movie is actually about the arms trade and the war zones then that's what you expect to see.

Cage's character himself pointed out that the western powers chasing him sold far more than he ever did. Actually he made several good talking points with some of his observations.

As for dismantalling a big plane in 24 hours... I reckon with enough people it could be done.
