Hi i was wondering can someone tell me why the 2 usb ports at the front of my pc dont seem to work? I have 4 altogether 2 at the back and 2 at the front. I use the 2 at the back for my printer and my broadband thingy, but if i want to use my web cam i have to unplug my printer becos the ones at the front dont seem to work. Any clues you clever people out there? Thanks confused3confused3confused3

Love and peace.

You might need to enable the additional USB ports in the BIOS. When you start up your PC there is normally a message to the effect " press DEL to enter setup" or something like that ( it depends on the manufacturer). Be careful what you change in the BIOS as you could render your pc inoperable. Try to identify your BIOS or the PC model number and I will try to assist you further.

Also:

If your computer was custom built, chances are the person or company who put it together may have forgtten to connect the USB cables from the motherboard to the ports... inside the machine.. or the motherboard cannot take more than 2 USB ports so the front 2 are rendered useless

Here is a suggestion, if you do not want to mess with the BIOS or you do not want to go into the computer to try and connect the cables, then the best thing to do is, get a USB multi port box from PC world or some where like that.

It can give you 4 or more extra ports and you just plug it into one of your existing USB ports...

Hope that helps

Life is good really, it's just how you view it.
