Hi blacknet village IT Tech people
just needed some info
i had set up a secondary user account with limited access as opposed to admin access, but it did not allow broadband access internet etc. so i deleted it. how do i set up another user account with limited access that allows the broadband internet access so that when people use my pc they are restricted in what they can do. though allowing internet access

How do you mean it did not allow access?
Is it just the case that the icon or connection is no longer visable?
This is probably because the icon existed only in your profile and not the all users profile. You can try going into the user profiles tab (right click my computer>properties) and copying your original profile over the new one.
Or you can try and reinstall the software for the connection. Or attempt to restore the connection manually, by entering all the details if you know them.

Hmmm. Little unsure as to what is happening. What I would try and do is to give that new user admin access to start with and get everything working. Then revert them back to a user only.
On your main account do you normally get a "dial up" box comming up when you go to the internet and/or is it the same one?

Yeah thats probably whats happening. The settings are probably set to always dial a connection. Have you tried setting it to never dial a connection.

Well I would create the account and give it admin rights to start with. Then that way you can be sure that permissions are not causing the problem.
Then if it still doesn't work, you will need to try and note down any connections / settings and re-apply them in the other account.
How do you connect to the internet?
Do you have to dial a connection or click an icon?
Once everything is working, then give that account user only permissions.

Hmm thats strange, I would have thought that it should work. Anyhow. Did you try creating another admin account? Did that have internet access?

hi nick
i tried setting up a second admin a/c. i logged onto it and it said starting IE but then Freeserve sign up screen popped up. each time i try to open a web page freeserve popped up. i looked in internet settings but no freeserve dialers- i have never had freeserve.
i think what it could be is that my pc came with pre-installed isp's. one time i tried to open up freeserve but cancelled it. i deleted all isp settings i dont need and those that came with the pc. bt openworld aol and freeserve. i did this via add/remove programs. it seems the freeserve sign up page is still stored on my pc.
oh yeah after i deleted again the new a/c my spyware gaurd noted that an attempt was being made to change my browser settings from microsoft to freeserve. i of course prevented the change(thanks t spyware gaurd)
i did find a folder called sign up on my pc cant find it again and it has all the freeserve stuff.

Try pasting that into the run box (start menu->run) and then running it in the account that you have just created.
"rundll32 iedkcs32.dll,Clear"
That should hopefully remove all signs of any browser branding.

i think that the main problem is that the freeserve sign up is on my pc somewehre an it just kick starts itself whenever i create a new a/c.
