There is a easier way to do this......

Go to WindowsUpdate and install the Windows Genuine Advantage ActiveX Control, but don't click 'Continue'

Close IE, re-open it and hit Manage Add-Ons... under the Tools heading.

Highlight Windows Genuine Advantage and Disable it.

Close IE again, then go back to WindowsUpdate.

It'll say that the site is trying to use an ActiveX that is currently disabled.

Ignore it.

Ignore it while you're downloading Updates like normal

Remove advertisements
