I've been hearing from so many people that Bulldog is a really bad company to sign up with...people have waited more than 3 months for connection, hackers using bulldog customer's phone lines and running up phone bills that the customer has to pay even though they haven't made the calls, hackers using your internet, even though with the internet it happens in all networks, but I heard Bulldog is the easiest for hackers to hack into. I've heard their service is terrible, someone was on the phone for 5 hours trying to get information lol its like...damn - - an then I go home one day to find the damn leaflet on ma kitchen counter with my mum tellin me she's signed up to it?!? I tried to explain to her but she so damn stubborn! Hell it was even on WatchDog a couple weeks ago. She got recommended it by a couple engineers an now she won't go back on her word. I'm wondering though...is Bulldog really as bad as people say? Are these problems faced in most other companies as well - or should it genuinely be avoided?! Cause I don't know whether its worth me worrying over. I'm the only one who uses the Internet in my house, so it affects me more than anyone else (we have a phone line with a different company so it won't affect that) Has anyone heard anything about this company? Good or bad?

Lady Swiftly my mum unfortunately signed up to Bulldog Broadband not realisng she would have to hook up the modem herself....when she did, she tried to change back to BT.............that was nearly 2 months ago!
BT have told her Bulldog is nightmare to get people back from as they are very unorganised, we have found them to bevery low quality customer service and poor poor customer care/follow up and their telephone receptioninst are all in India and don't understand questions asked.
I would advise antone to steer clear of these guys.

DO NOT USE BULLDOG. DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE-POLE THAT IS LONGER THAN THE NILE, YUKATON, AMAZON AND GANGES COMBINED.
(I hate using caps, but it really is required here!)
There are simply the worst ISP I have ever had the misfortune to use. As I speak, my line has gone done YET AGAIN. They have pi55 poor customer services and are eptiomise the worst example of customer service....
I made the mistake of signing up for them in June, and it's been a constant catalog of dropped connections, lost telephone lines (for TWO WEEKS at one point).
I rue the day I signed up with them, but will devote the rest of my existence warning people away from them....
You really have been warned....!
Even if you're not paranoid, that doesn't mean that someone isn't out to get you...

DON'T DO IT.
I'm with them I'll give you a rough breakdown of what happened..........
Ordered 2mb line Aug 2004, didn't get connected until a month, at that time the service was so poor I was only getting 32k instead of around 200~220k, complained and wanted out of contract, got fobbed off stating that my contract could only be cancelled after 7 days of ordering........it took them 1 month to connect me.
After MANY lenghty calls to customer service.....trust me, you don't know poor CS until you signup with Bulldog Broadband, upto 2 hours in queue then a dropped call. After 1 month of bad sppeds then another 2 months of 512 line(their fault) I got the difference back in money for which I ordered.
Service has been good so far, but I still cancelled my contract on 31st Aug 2005........Sent them an email, all I got was a reference number in return, cancelled my direct debit 1st Sept 2005.....to this date still no word from them, they don't even reply when a debit is cancelled.
I'm out of contract, so I'll keep on using the line until they see fit to terminate it. They haven't got a rats chance in hell in getting the past 2 months of payment from me.
STAY CLEAR.
The world's full of them..... and you know it!

Hi I'm also with bulldog and even thoughI think their services are improving, they are not improving quick enough and I am leaving. I had a 1mb service with them that was ok but when they upgraded me to the 8mb service and telephone I had all sorts of problems. No telephone, down time, poor service, poor customer service and most annoying of all, over-charging. They have only just sorted out the previous over-charges and are still over-charging for this bill. I have requested to cancel for over 2 months now and still nothing has happened, however,I cancelled my direct debit with them from over a month ago, which I don't even think they have realised. Me and every1 else I know who's with them have had enough and want to cancel. They told me in 72 hours I will be cancelled but I doubt it, so my next step is to tell BT to take my line back. I don't think this company is quite ready, maybe sometime next year they will have sorted themselves out properly. All the foolishness started when cable and wireless took over the company anyway.

Hi Dimples my mum was in the same boat, and her advice tell BT in no uncertain terms you wanna comeback, and they will send a guy over to link you back once and for all reagrdless of what Bulldog says or does. Although this may take a few weeks after you make the request its worth the wait.

Thats what they did in my mums case although you may have to harrass BT a bit as they can be a bit slack sometimes too!

Also BT will put you on a 12 month contract that means you wont be able to use an alternative provider again for at least a year, but having experienced Bulldog thats a small price to pay.

Bulldog broadband is a wastemans company. My mum also signed up for their broadband service, and the man sweet-talked her into getting the service, and before you no it Bt were writing her a letter saying that her line was changing to bulldog. My mum was vex to say the least, and she stopped the change, but bulldog still managed to thief £1 from her account (not alot but's it the principle), that she has been trying to get back from them. She still has not got the money back.......:X
And...they hound u too, i was walking and i heard some bulldog rep say under his breath "i have to get this one" referring to me, i didn't know at the time that he was a rep until he called me and i saw the stand, he pressed me and pressed for my bank details and i was like uhh...nah, and the man i was like o.k can i have your number so i can call you with some offers from time to time.
I wonder how people get employed thses days..............confused3

OMG lol nawww I'm just hopin an prayin that ma mum has changed her mind cause she seems to have forgotten about it - and to rude_gal lol I know what you mean about the way they talk to you - - one guy knocked on my door, and told me he was from bulldog etc etc, then I told him "my mums not home" then he was like "where is she?" (wtf?!?!) knowing this was NONE of his business, I said "out". so he asks "no seriously..where is she? shopping...work? where's she gone?....(WHY WAS HE ASKING ME THIS?!!) I told him again "OUT". then he was like ...."ok..does she work?"...by this time i was gettin really pissed off, so I told him to come back another time..an he still carried on askin me questions kmt..their sales department is disgraceful - - askin personal questions an ish..I should have taken that as the first warning sign
