I get my domain names from www.godaddy.com They cist around a tenner per domain, but if you type BUY7 in the Shopping cart you should get something like a 10% discount.

it will feature my article and some from friends and family who are also keen writers. its main use is as a platform to showcase skills

You might consider wanting to start up a blog, wordpress.com is the best place for that, they cost nothing.
