I recently purchased a Panasonic CF-27 laptop. It came with a 256 MB upgrade, 144 pin pc100 sodimm. Tonight I tried a 256 MB pc133 from a Dell Latitude in it and it did not work. The computer just showed the built in 64 MB of memory.

Can anyone tell me about the variations in laptop memories which cause them to be incompatible? I would have thought pc133 would have worked and the Toughbook just could not take advantge of the greater speed capability. Are there different version of pc100 which are incompatible?

I am monitoring prices on eBay but now I am wondering what will and will not work.
