This is funny as hell!

Coding Horror: Why Can't Programmers.. Program?

My take on this is mostly the schools don't teach people to think, they teach memorization and regurgitation. People do what the teacher says to get thru the course but the real world ain't like school. How many teachers would have trouble holding jobs outside their institutions?

The sad part is, why can't they learn to program without school now. We don't need the schools for access to computers anymore.

Technology has a way of taking things from people, had a mathmatic equation to work out the other day, could easily have downloaded a free program and just printed it out but I worked it out on paper so I could do it myself.

How many people can do a simple math equation without a calculator? Peoples dependancy on technology is really going to come round and clap people in the face before long. Basic things like mathmatics and writing are being eroded by technology. No one even hand writes letters anymore, calligraphy is all but dead cause we'd rather set the font on a screen.

Wackness is speading like the plague.

"Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled."-- North African Wisdom

It boils down to a numbers game. There is one element that is missing. Recruiters and job posters. You've seen those ads where you just click and it generates revenue for the site that host them. The same principle is used by recruiters. This is their bread and butter especially college graduates who hardly know anything.

I have been told by someone who knows very little in programming to just spruce up your resume that you have worked for x company and y company (a complete lie) and guess what he his lie got him a $70,000+ computer job that includes programming. He is learning currently on the go. All thanks to recruiters who just like numbers and dont do diligent background check themselves..

Too bad this is a brother. They (his employers) are starting to see through his visage.
