Help! Idiots guide to downloading music onto an MP3 player please.

I have a Sony MP3 player model NW-E75 if thats any help,anyway I installed the drivers etc but I think maybe the CD provided may be obsolete as this is an old player.

My OS is Windows Vista,I just assumed id be able to bypass all that (driver stuff)upload Cd's in my windows music library and then download them onto this device.

The drivers for player are installed but I still cannot download,What am I doing wrong???

And if you are able to talk me through this,please reply in clear,step by step not too techincal terms.

OK,

I've never used Vista or a Sony player.

This site provides a download for that player but it has no mention of Vista so I would not be surprised if that is your problem.

This site says that player converts MP3s to the Sony ATRAC format.

Do you get any error messages? I am assuming you are connecting via a USB cable. Does the computer tell you a USB device is connected when you attach the Sony?

I could kiss you Umbra,thank you for saving me from several more hours of wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I had to indeed download some Vista software to make this player compatible,that took around 45 mins! but at least everything is cool now.
