ok my laptop has pre-installed nct software for burning cds
however each time i have used it it crashes my laptop and jams the drive

sooooo

i need to know which software is good to use

free or with cost

just let me know why you reccomend?

I have been using CDBurnerXP Pro for a long time.
Its a freebie, never had any problems.

Geoff does it allow you to slice up tracks so you can just have the parts you want say for like a ringtone?

I did acknowledge your thanks, but it was amongst the mysterious disappearing posts.
Glad you are happy with it, hope the car music is mellow, and not another of them there boom boom shakey cars that pass with windows wide open.

no i have 2 boys and the 1st has enough energy for a whole classs. mellow for now as i am still shaky in parts with my driving

I'm pretty sure Audacity can do that (and a load of other things) but so far all I've used it for is removing a few clicks from songs I've ripped from vinyl.
