How can people in 'Third World' countries export food to the 'first world' while the people are suffering from hunger in their own land?

It makes no sence.

Major companies are buying up food from these nations like anything and yet their people starve?

Or is there a bigger picture?

Is it not odd that the major suppliers of food in Africa, as in the nations who had the ability to feed the british empire as well as the portugese are the ones suffering the most from war and other ails opressing the people?
