I have recently decided to eat a diet of 90% percent vegetables and fruit as raw as possible and feel amazing after two weeks. However these have not been organic.

I do not wish to waste my hard earned funds so cananyone who has tried both and can make a contructive comparison, please advise ofhow organic food benefits the body in comparison to the ordinary ....or is itall hype?

I know about the chemicals sprayed etc on foods and gm products. What should I be looking for when purchasingmy fresh fruit and veg?

For Example:

In the supermarket the organic carrot looks just and orange as the chemical carrot, which would suggest to methat both have been grownby the same methods. But in the health shop the organic carrot looksmall and sick but I would imagine this is how the carrot supposed to look.

Please advise.

if u eat organic, u will be better off...conventional fruits and veggies are sprayed with chemicals and often gm'd which means that they do not have as many vitamins and minerals...if any at all....

conventional fruit/veggies may last longer because of the chemicals to prolong shelf life...dead food...

i was a raw and living foodist for 6 months...best time of my life...i am planning on returning to it very soon...

I just want to ask, you said you eat 90% fruit and veg, is that not a hard regime to stick to?

Thank you so much for your response, did you manage to stick to organic whilst you were a raw and living foodist. Could you distinguish apart from what the wrapping said what was organic and what was not.

Thanks for the link I am going to take a look in a moment. It is not a hard regime because I don't eat red meat anyway and as I increase in age my body has difficulty in dealing with the deliciouscaribbeancuisine, the occasional (junk food) dinner out dairy and flour food.

I tend to conduct this type ofdiet during the spring summer months and I do look and feel great. When winter arrives I tend to go for comfort food.

I am going to try to do this for life because, I know too many people that are looking ill or are actually ill .

Nothing special just buy fruits and vegetables as I some across them and do whatever.

For breakfast say for instance Imay blend a raw beetrot, carrot and some ginger with water and drink that. My belly is full. Or I mighthave a big mango

If I am having cooked food I mightcook some green bananaand have that with some ackee and okra with fresh pepper.

I try to treat myself and child at the weekend, which makes it easier to stick to the diet during the week. But we are gradually beginning to draw away from the weekend treats.

yes i did all organic and i still do unless i am eating out or something...here in the us everything is clearly labeled as organic if it is... i also did lots of juice fasting when i did not want to eat...i find that as long as your body gets its vitamins and minerals(nutrients), you don't feel hungry...hunger is only a craving for vitamins and minerals (nutrients)

I decided to go organic a few weeks back.

Cost aside, I must admit my food tastes 100% better. The potatoes need no salt, and the eggs are divine (although, at £2.95 for 10 large ones at Sainsburys, a tad expensive).

On the down side, bananas go black in no time, and garlic seems to take longer to peel (although I hate having to peel both garlic and onions - a pethate).

Overall though, I'd say go organic if your pocket can withstand it.

I am not obsessed with organic labels, cause I overheard a seller at market with his mate saying "dont remove the soil off the carrots, so that we can pass em off as organic - besides thats a few quid more than the ones I cleaned". But I am sure some places like Fresh and Wild are legit and you get your money's worth.

If you have the internet at home...

I think its the best tool to find out about your fruits and vegetables get to the market.

Usually knowing the company behind the product will tell you whether you should buy.



Many companies and individuals put their 'name' to the test.

They know if they pass, it's worth more than its weight in gold.

So find out the organic fruit and vegetable producer and farming region.

Gosh! that takes some strong will power but I can definitely understand that the benefits must outweigh the forgone foods by far. Two years ago my mother adopted a strict Ital diet she lost about 7 stones in the process and her arthritis, which was at times crippling, seems to have disappeared.

The only con I can see with adopting a diet this strict is that the body still needs it's proteins which apart from meat and dairy can only be provided by pulses such as lentils and chickpeas or Soya.
