Default Food Intolerances. - 25-09-07, 08:38 AM

I think I may have a food intolerance but I am unsure of how best to check it out.
My situation is this – Although my weight stays at a constant 89kg-91kg, my tummy gets seriously bloated sometimes and expands to a point where I look pregnant, yet at other times (still within the same weight range) I can see a well developed mid section (not ripped but well defined). My BMI = 30.5 (which is SERIOUSLY misleading as my body fat is less than 20%.

I work in a health and fitness industry whereby I deliver 4x 45 mins classes per week, I exercise with clients approx 14 hrs per week and I do my own stuff for 3x 90mins per week.

I cook fresh (no takeaways, no pre packed or ready made stuff and drink approx 3.5lts of water per day (mixed with sugar free squash). No caffeine, no alcohol, no fizzy drinks. Minimum milk (less than a pint per week), no dairy products beyond the odd bit of Edam cheese. Bread has been an issue and this has been cut from almost a loaf a day to less than a loaf a week.. still a problem.

I do consume a lot of “wheat based products), rice, pasta, porridge oats etc and also eat a LOT of fruit and veg (read that not as five a day more like ten a day).

This has been a mystery to me and I am more than curious now.. The GP has done test that show nothing, no major organ issues, not diabetic etc.. its just a mystery.

Any suggestions would be appreciated..

Have you inquired about gluten intolerance? I know of others who have learned that gluten content in many foods leads to uncomfortable results. Avoiding glutens requires quite a bit of attention to ingredient content.

Here is a link that may help with your inquiry: Gluten Intolerance
